United StatesThe location is fabulous. It’s convenient to all of Bennington, as well as Routes 7 and 7A, for exploring all the surrounding towns. The inn is beautiful and we were sorry we didn’t have more time there to sit and relax on the pretty porch or perhaps play a game or two in the sitting room. Joe is a perfect host and we hope to go back soon.

Quaint New England town filled with history.
Quaint New England town filled with history. Key in Revolutionaty War and helped VT join USA. Had considered Canada at one time.
Ez to navigate around town. Getting there can be rough on some very loaded down roads. Restaurants are often locals. The Blue Benn Diner (it appears) is THE top fav eatery of visitors & locals. May eateries close before 2100 (9:00 PM). Hungry late? Limited to Fast Food Chains or Henneford Foods mostly.
Old car ("Classics") Enthusiasts love Bennington Events sponsored by Hemmings Motor News (HQ). On some days 200 to 300 cars & buffs can be seen in town; carefully organized for orderly public visiation.
There are a number of religious sites/svcs in a generally irreligious state. Something for almost all perspectives.
Weather can be abrupt and violent. Check forecasts closely.

Typical small town venue. Friendly locals for the most part. Hemmings Cruise-Ins are exceedingly popular with the Classic Car community all over NE & NY. State of VT needs to get road system repaired soon, especially Rt 9. Many State roads waste time and are tricky in storms. Local restaurants seem to collude and close earlier than in other states. Local one-off restaurants have very good food, but it's hard to enjoy if they're closed. As always; everywhere it's easy to know who has their act together...and who doesn't. The Blue Bene is everybody's fav place in spite of small spaces. VT is shunned by corporate America say natives. This limits chain restaurant systems, which is just great with us.

The downtown core was charming.
The downtown core was charming. I quite enjoyed having a coffee there. The people I ran into were quite friendly. I would have liked to explored it more. However, it felt like it was not a good place to be after dark or in the peripheries of the affluent areas.

It was a great place to sleep.
It was a great place to sleep. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It was inexpensive as well. It isn't a fancy place but it was just a place to sleep when we got back from exploring the area.

We ate at a couple of Breweries and the Publyk House.
We ate at a couple of Breweries and the Publyk House. We also had breakfast at the Blue Henn and Papa Pete's. All these places where great. If time permitted we had other places we would have checked out. The temperature was actually warm for the time of year, so we didn't get to go ice skating outside.

We have been going to Bennington for over 30 years and love...
We have been going to Bennington for over 30 years and love the area for its scenic views, historical significance, and friendly people. Downtown Bennington has a lot of little shops and places for meals that are all situated in a walking friendly area.
Many quaint little shops in the area, we always make sure at least once on our trips to have dinner at the Madison Brewing Co (https://www.madisonbrewingco.com) on Rt 9 in downtown. Great selection of beers and the food it fantastic. Also north of Bennington in East Arlington is the Chocolatorium (https://www.villagepeddlervt.com) for those with a sweet tooth for handmade chocolates. Just south of Bennington center in Rt 7 is the Apple Barn for gifts, baked goods and of course fresh apples.

We were traveling to do a college visit to Bennington, this was the perfect place!! Publyk house was right there for food which was great! Breakfast was nice, but Heath was AWESOME! Great conversation, very knowledgeable of the area, and a delight to spend time with!
