Excellent location right in town, C.J. (the owner) went beyond hospitality - he even gave us a lift to Jewel Caves. We were very happy to stay at this hotel. Thank you to all the staff.

We loved this lodge from the moment we arrived. We were welcomed by Deb and shown to our room which was amazing. Hearing the back story to this delightful lodge was both sad and heartwarming. The love and dedication and hard work to make this lodge a special and memorable place has truly paid off. The rooms are exquisite, the common areas are welcoming and the wide verandah is gorgeous. What is not to love about this place. The unexpected home cooked breakfast on our first morning there was delicious also. A departing hug just sealed the deal - this was a special place!!!

Check in was a breeze even though I reached the hotel late. Hot tub was still available so I had a nice soak. I loved the decor of the place. The bed was really comfortable. The Receptionist was awesome.

Custer is a hidden gem in the Black Hills.

Custer is a hidden gem in the Black Hills. It is centrally located and reasonably priced. We meet family here every year and will extend our stay next year! We especially loved the Dulce Black Hills Bakery with their gluten free menu. A special thanks to the Skogen Kitchen for bringing such wonderful culinary artists into Custer and the Black Hills!

Custer doesn’t have any “chain” facilities, which made it nice. Not a very crowded town. The servings of ice cream at the Purple Pie Pakce were big. The breakfast at Calamity Jane’s was ok. There were numerous shops we didn’t frequent because we were just too tired. It was an easy drive to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial.

I love Custer.

I love Custer. My mother grew up in Custer and homesteaded in the Black Hills. My dad also grew up on a homestead in the early 1900s. I know the area extremely well and have spent time in areas tourists have no clue exist.

The town is small but has plenty of restaurants and tons of things to do around it. We visited several national parks and national monuments. I feel like coming in the summer is better than fall/winter, many restaurants and stores were closed early or closed for the season. Locals are friendly to tourists. Beware of the bars at night, small town antics. But otherwise, the downtown area was peaceful and a great place to stay. My favorite restaurant was black hills pizza, their Thai pizza was amazing!

This is a cute town, close to a number of points of interest - Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park. We saw hundreds of bison on the Wildlife Loop around 8 a.m. The park is top-notch. Highly recommend!

What a location! Being less than 30mins from Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse and the Wildlife loop makes Custer a great location - and this hotel is the perfect stay if you are in town! The large lobby offered a relaxing space to unwind with a coffee or tea in the evening, and a brilliant setting for the included breakfast. The staff we met were friendly and professional and the room was large, modern and clean. A great stay!

Lovely hotel in Custer with friendly staff, excellent rooms and good facilities. The property is just outside the main part of Custer (a 5min drive). There is a nice pool and hot tub, and free laundry facilities. The room is large and bed comfortable. Just wish we had more time to enjoy the other things the property offers!
