We came for the Star Train and were not disappointed by the...

We came for the Star Train and were not disappointed by the trip. Definitely check out the Nevada Northern Railway when in Ely. They offer a number of different train rides, and the self-guided walking tour is also worthwhile. The Star Train is especially lovely, taking passengers out to the desert at night to a star viewing area, with telescopes and accompanied by professional astronomers. Beautiful.

We love to visit Ely. We love exploring the desert.

We love to visit Ely. We love exploring the desert. The train is awesome. The jailhouse was better than we expected with great restaurants. We will be back again. We had fantastic steaks at the jailhouse steakhouse. The smash and grab for breakfast was great.

Quaint small town.

Quaint small town. If you need to stop while heading north or south, this is the town to choose. The town has all the conveniences required for a car traveler along with a cute little small town feel in the old historic downtown area.

Ely, NV is a neat small historical town in North Nevada.

Ely, NV is a neat small historical town in North Nevada. It has an amazing National Railway depot and working railyard. You could easy spend the whole day exploring and taking different train rides on different train branches. The staff and administration are so nice and polite and make your trip enjoyable. Ely also has a neat small museum called the White Pine Museum and the Renaissance Village high above downtown Ely. Furthermore, Ely has these amazing murals all over town. The fall back to Ely is that it lacks fancy restaurants and it seems to rain alot in Ely, NV. The downtown is falling apart. The town keeps triumphing. It is a hidden jewel of a town in the middle on Northern Nevada. Ely is very easy to get around. Margaritas Mexican Restaurant in the Pioneer Casino is excellent.

We were traveling from Glendale, AZ to Boise, and Ely was...

We were traveling from Glendale, AZ to Boise, and Ely was the perfect stopping point for us. The Prospector Hotel and Casino was a hidden gem stopping point for us along the long drive home. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, casino is cozy, and the Marguarita restaurant has great food and large portions at a good price.

Ely is a great midway stop when crossing Nevada north to south. The surrounding country is incredibly spacious, miles and miles of dramatic landscape. Great Basin National Park is a great addition to the National Parks System.
