A very basic motel - no frills but clean and comfortable. The lady on reception was friendly and had helpful suggestions about where to eat - we ended up eating our takeaway sitting on the chairs outside our room watching the sun set over the “mountain”. Breakfast was do-it-yourself oatmeal or grits, waffle or cereal.

Jefferson is a lovely place to visit.

Jefferson is a lovely place to visit. It has ample opportunities for adventures. You can go hiking or tubing or kayaking or birdwatching. If you like less outdoors centered romps, you can go to West Jefferson or North Wilkesboror and hit the shops! We found great coffee and dining in both places and in between too! We also found a great variety of goods appealing to many different people, The shopkeepers we met were also a lot of fun and very helpful. There were also spots for live music and many art shops too, both painting and crafted goods of great quality and beauty. The Farmers Market in West Jefferson was a fun browse too, and put us directly in touch with the locals, really making us feel at home and welcome.

The location was perfect!

The location was perfect! Very dirty, stained/ dirty bed sheets and blankets. Asked for new sheets and blankets, they were just as filthy! Supervisor said I would get a refund, $36 on a $243 booking. Absolutely ridiculous

Find time to get on the New River - easy with tubes and...

Find time to get on the New River - easy with tubes and there are rental places. Two great breweries in West Jefferson and great winery nearby; great restaurants with Craft Bistro at the top; for art lovers - 2 frescos, one in West Jefferson and the other in nearby Glendale Springs - inspiring! Ashe County is refreshing to the soul with many friendly, helpful people and gorgeous mountain scenery.

I'm actually from the area just visiting friends.

I'm actually from the area just visiting friends. But have always felt like that was my home town even though I was born elsewhere and and actually spent equal time in SC. One of my favorite places I have ever been.

The cottage itself was very cute, VERY clean, and the location was good. Host detailed the arrival instructions, leaving instructions, and location very well. This was much appreciated since there is very little outdoor lighting on that street. We selected this rental because it was the same price for two hotel rooms. With some changes, this would be a very comfortable stay.
