I value the room's spaciousness, equipped with three queen beds and an extra room with a door. Perfect for a family of 5 or 6, it provides excellent value. Additionally, the parking is fantastic—you can park right in front of your unit. Check-in is easy. No Bible in the room.
Kingman is a pretty city with mountains all around. There is a host of motels and good restaurants to choose from. You can take old route 66 from Andy Devine Road northeast and go on a gorgeous back road route to Seligman to reconnect with highway 40 there.
I got off the freeway an exit too soon, and drove to the city center, which was awesome but completely vacant! (Alarming until I realized it was Sunday.) The Old Town neighborhood had beautifully restored train cars (engines, cabooses, and in-between cars! And museums! I was curious, but had no free time. Want to go back and check things out.
We have been to Kingman many, many times. It seems to be in the middle of nowhere, but there is a certain charm to what it has to offer if you want to learn some history. Over the various trips through Kingman, we have visited museum, train station, info about Andy Divine and his acting roles. We remember him being on a western show on weekly television when we were children. Vintage motels, vintage cafes, all are very interesting and good. If you want upscale things, you may not like Kingman, and they have those motels also. But we will always stay in the vintage places as we travel from the mid-west to California.
Please do not stay at the Silver Queen motel. The room I was in apparently was raided the night before as they were Smoking Phentanol in that room & one of the idiots had a Federal Warrant also. No ice machine ,dirty walls. I had to bring bleach also. I have severe Asthma also. Smelled like tobacco soaked room. Truly Discusting. The girl at the desk on 2nd night was a complete nasty Bi-tch. Getting around kingman is Farley easy. Lots of nice Restraunts to go to.
It is about 45 minutes east of the Colorado River and about 20 degrees cooler in the summer time. The river crossing is MUCH hotter than any other point on I-40 so I like to hit it at night or the early morning (depending on the direction I am going). Kingman is a good stopping / starting point for doing that that.
