#1 of 10 hotels in Kirkwood
The mountain club is not the place to stay if you want to sleep in! The snow cats should Groom next to the building early in the evening then find a route much further away for the rest of their work!
You totally misrepresented the room, it was dated and felt like the Twilight Zone. Far from the Lodge which I requested since my spouse is handicapped over priced for what we received not even a hair dryer in the room. Stated ALL rooms have a balcony not, we didn't even have a window!!!
The mountain was closed due to rain and flooding, as well as power issues. There was no information, no kiosks or staff there to let us know what was happening or if it would open the next day. Overall, this place needs some serious upgrades to be a Vail resort. We had just come from a week of skiing in Whistler and the contrasts could not have been more stark. Lodging is very limited and very over-priced (double what we paid in Whistler). Amenities and services are minimal, especially mid-week. Nightlife is non-existent and there's only a handful of mediocre restaurants, when they are open. Despite peak season, the place almost feels like a ghost town mid week. Lifts are seriously in need of upgrades. Mountain is beautiful and the snow is generally the best in the Sierras, but we will make our way to other Vail properties with far better services and amenities for these prices.
We love Kirkwood and its cozy, small-town charm. Always great snow and many fun runs for the whole family. The back side of the mountain (and especially Sunrise chair) is incredible. Kirkwood is one of the best-kept secrets in Tahoe. Shhhh.
Beautiful property! Just needs improvement on amenities, and comfort. No place to eat or get a drink after 8 O'clock. Just stopped by to see the ski area I skied in the early 70s! Brought back great memories! It has grown bigger than I expected. This is the place to SKI!😎
Kirkwood is excellent for skiers and boarders. You need to be aware that if you stay in Kirkwood dining options and night life is extremely limited. For me and my teen age son that was fine we were only there for the skiing. We stayed at the Kirkwood Mountain Resort and even though the resort is extremely pricey you do get your money's worth. I'd stay there again.
“Kirkwood skiing was great.”
“We loved the resort, the hotel staff and the maintenance staff - very friendly, accommodating and helpful”
“Hotel staff member at front desk Chris was outstanding on the phone pre-arrival, upon arrival at check in, and on the phone during our stay. He should be commended.”
“The staff upgraded us to the Mountain Club from The Meadows for free because you (Booking.com) have such a deceptive hotel listing. The issues I described aside; the room was nice and clean, and once we got upgraded the location was super convenient. ”
“A double room is not 2 rooms. I needed a place for 4 adults and 3 children. After arriving to find a room with 2 beds only. The management was able to move me to larger room that really helped out ! Next time I will call directly to hotel. This was my fault but front deck was so acomidating!!”
