I was born and raised here.

I was born and raised here. Great Small City with Amazing Sights,Friendly People and many things to do. Although I'm not a fan of Lobster, there is only one City and State to get the best, Portland Maine

    Portland is a walkable city.

Portland is a walkable city. Too many wonderful restaurants for one trip! My favorites from this trip: Fore Street Restaurant, Honey Paw, and Jing Yan. My husband loved Bar Futo and the bar at Via Vecchia.

We live in Massachusetts, but we love visiting Maine.

We live in Massachusetts, but we love visiting Maine. We usually stop at the Kittery Trading Post along our drive. In Portland we like to take in historical homes and sites like the Victorian Mansion or the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow home. There are lots of restaurants and pubs in the waterfront area. One of our favorites is the Ri' Ra' where I typically enjoy a Guinness with the fish and chips.

My work in Portland shows me a diverse striving community that is trying to care for its citizens. That diversity is revealed through exploring the shops underneath and around the "Hopeful" sculpture/sign on Forest Ave.

    Best seafood ever.

Best seafood ever. Very nice restaurants and bars and excellent, friendly service in all places. Nice little interior or similar shops. Some more or less interesting galleries, interesting Arts Museum. But two full days are enough for visiting downtown Portland. Lovely hiking trails at about 30 minutes from the town.

The hotel was a great location and clean. The amenities top notched. Pool opened early and great for my kids. The lobby was welcoming and open. Staff helpful. We attempted to walk around but two cruise ships in and was hard to go into the shops.

The Francis is located in a quiet neighborhood, but it is still within walking distance of many restaurants, bars, and shops. It is also a short drive to the Old Port and other popular tourist destinations. The rooms and common areas at The Francis are very clean and well-maintained. The beds are comfortable and the linens are fresh and clean. The Francis is housed in a historic building that has been beautifully restored. The hotel has a lot of character and charm.

At first sight one might think that the old English style hotel would not be clean, but it was the opposite. Even though the curtains, walls etc. were all old and looked like from 100 years ago, everything was very clean. The staff at the reception and the cleaning woman were all very friendly. It's a cosy place and especially good for someone travelling alone.

TRUE revitalized grand hotel from 1927 when my grandmother worked in the kitchen. I've always wanted to stay. It is a superior locale and location walking to Deering Oaks, down to the old port and dozens of foodie places. Start with concierge service, fabulous restaurant with a park and infused water, coffee and teas service in the glittering lobby.

The lobby is so aesthetically pleasing and welcoming as well. If I had ever found myself in Portland again I would definitely come back to this hotel!

Portland is expensive, and downtown has no parking. So this was my best option. It's 15 mins away from everything. Had a pool and balcony that made it worth the price.
