Our family enjoyed our visit to the Alamo, the History Shop (which explains the events at the Battle of the Alamo well), the Buckhorn Museum, and the River Walk. The River Walk was pleasant and picturesque. Lunch at the Buckhorn was convenient, and the old-time saloon ambiance was appropriate; food was good; price wasn't too bad. The Buckhorn has a collection of unusual taxidermied animals and other oddities -- quirky stuff but not for everyone. Bring your wild west outfit and pose for pictures in the Texas Rangers section, where the Buckhorn has a simulated town from the Old West. For a family of six, it was far easier to get in and out of the Fuddruckers for dinner than to get into most of the restaurants along the River Walk, where we faced a 40 minute to 1.5 hour wait at each establishment. All of these locations were easily accessible on foot from our hotel.
I have travelled the world and San Antonio is right up there with the best cities I've ever been to. It's beautiful, has some great history (go to the Briscoe!) and of course the River Walk. San Antonio is a city that is easy to navigate on foot but if you want to see more try the shop On Hop Off bus!
The Natural Bridge Caverns and Wildlife park were our biggest highlights. SeaWorld itself was ok but they were very short staffed and most of the electronic ticket machines were broke causing major delay in getting into park. The zoo is very nice as well. There is a new restaurant called Asia Star. It is a buffet style restaurant and has several different buffets to choose from. We had lunch there and for the two of us it was $21. Excellent value! Of course the Riverwalk is always great. Lots to see and eat. We ate at Hardrock and also Longhorn Steak House. Pricey but good food. San Antonio is great place for families and there were plenty there. Large Police presence so always feel safe. We stayed Drury Plaza and great Hotel and Pet friendly.
Thoroughly recommend doing the riverwalk into town - such a beautiful area, loved the art installations and blend of greenery with architecture. Nice restaurants and bars. Also try the Pearl Brewery in the opposite direction. The Hotel Emma did some of the best mojitos we've ever had.
Lots to see and do and great for families. Highly recommend the zoo and wildlife park. The riverwalk is very busy at night and wait for table at restaurants can be long but worth the wait. There is a large police presence so always felt safe, I recommend the Asia Star restaurant. I is Buffet style and cheap with a huge selection of food. Found SeaWorld too pricey and would give that a miss next time. Very historical City with lots to see and do. Stayed at Drury Plaza and was great. The breakfast and Kickback at 5:30 has a great selection and allowed 3 free drinks per night.
Love San Antonio, one of the nicest cities in the US. Wonderful culture and the Hispanic culture with a lot of Mexican places and food that you can just love. People are super friendly and layed back. Just my favorite day trip or longer stay, love, love, love San Antonio and San Antonians.
This hotel was a beautiful old heritage hotel that was literally right across from the Alamo. Cannot be beat location wise. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to accommodate us and make sure our stay was going well. This place far exceeded my expectations for value for money. The breakfast was a wonderful surprise. It was a full buffet, complete with Texas shaped waffles!!
The hotel was wonderful, everyone was so kind and Friendly. Bonnie was so sweet to us. Beds were comfy, the facility was always clean and well managed. I would definitely reccomend.
Gorgeous and comfortable room, especially for the price. Having a stove top made it much better than most hotels; all within the same price range.
