We didn't spend a lot of time exploring during this trip, but did find several nice parks along the waterway and lake. There were a few coffee shops and restaurants that looked good, and we were happy with the ones we tried. The town is small, but not too small, with a lot of the common stores and chains available. We got delicious coffees at Glas, right on the water, and enjoyed the view. We had supper at Stubborn Brothers brewery - food, prices, and service were all fantastic! We had breakfast at Shawano's Cafe - good quantity of food for the price. The wedding we attended was held at the lodge at Shawano County Park. The space worked great, and we really enjoyed the park area, beach, and outdoor fireplace.

The weather had been raining, and I took a chance on early check in, and it was available. We had looked up restaurants on internet and found a gyro place in Shawano. The food was amazing, big portions and great prices.

Shawano has a lot to offer in the summer especially. We usually rent space at Whispering Pines located right on the lake when the extended family vacations in the area. The local restaurants are great!! Shotgun Eddy Rafting is nearby and is a great white water rafting experience. Lark Country Store is unique and worth a visit. Don't miss the pot roast omelets at Farm Inn on Main. Hope Community Church is where we worship while in Shawano and we were impressed with the friendly atmosphere and the service.

My wife was born and raised in Shawno, but when her dad died the family had to move to Milwaukee. This was her first visit back in 40 years and she said it had really changed. Some for the better, some for the worse just like any place. However, that being said the plus's far outweigh the negatives and are actually considering moving to Shawno to get away from the "big" city life. We found it to be more of a calm, quiet place with a lot of friendly people, who seem more content. And Green Bay is only 30 minutes away if we want more action.
