Staff should be accommodating, prompt service when u ask something like towels on the bathroom..microwave should include from the room, should inform at the net that they are under construction so we could have chosen another hotel..
I went to a concert at St George theater which was amazing and the theater was beautiful! I also ferried over to Manhattan for half the day on St Patrick’s Day which was an adventure in itself. I wish I had more time. Nothing negative to say other than I wish I spent more time exploring Staten Island but I did get to see the Statue of Liberty and I don’t live too far so I can always visit again soon!
Lots of terrific food choices! Literally anything from Americana to Greek to Japanese to Spanish. All at great prices and authentic! Best bagels in the country. Beautiful city without all the overwhelmingness of being in a huge city. Easy to drive through direction wise. Streets are well lit and 90% of streets have proper street signs.
Shocked at how small it was, we were running into each other and we are not big people. There was about 2.5 feet around three sides of the bed in which to move. On a positive note, the bed was comfortable.
The initial hotel that I stayed at was not particularly helpful, nor friendly, but it was convenient to an event I was attending. They would not pick me up at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, nor would they reimburse my cab fare. Another hotel, virtually on the same property, & I think owned by the same management group, did exactly that last January. This time, for more money, I got fewer amenities. Go figure. Eventually moved to a second location, closer to restaurants & shopping other than the hotel campus. I would up eating one of the best pizzas I have ever had, from a restaurant on Victory Blvd. It has won national & international awards for their pizza: Goodfella's at 1817 Victory Blvd. You will NOT be disappointed that you showed up. Also had a tremendously good knish at a kosher restaurant right down the street , the Dairy Palace at 2216 Victory Blvd. While it doesn't look like much, you're not going there for the interior decor: you're there for the taste of the food. A cashier at an Italian deli down the street, where I bought some other knishes to eat at my hotel, admitted that theirs, from another supplier, weren't as good as those from the Dairy Palace. The Staten Island Mall is fun, as is the Ferry ride into Manhattan. Public transportation is very good. You can get almost anywhere that way. I had an almost great time there. It would have been great, if the first hotel had been less expensive, & nicer. But you can't have it your way every time. By the way, I grew up on Staten Island, but not near any of the locations I mentioned, except the Staten Island Ferry.
The Holday Inn Express met our needs because we had to stay on Staten Island due to family matters. My impression of Staten Island is that it is ugly and over developed. The expansion of the Goethals Bridge helps the traffic flow, but it's still hard to get around Staten Island. Even though it's more expensive to stay in Manhatten, we will stay there when we travel to NYC again. Also, there are only 5 chain hotels on SI which sell out quickly.

Wow! Hostess was incredible. We were sorry we could only stay one night and didn't spend much time enjoying the B&B because we had to get up early due to bike race in Manhattan. But hostess prepped quick breakfast for all us riders: fresh zucchini bread, hardboiled eggs, fresh fruit, toast, tea, coffee juice and other light items. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in. This is a phenomenal gem in a quiet neighborhood on Staten Island.

The shuttle service to a Staten Island and Newark Airport was excellent. Drivers very helpful & friendly. Complimentary breakfast and refreshments were good too (as long as you don’t mind using disposable plates, cups & cutlery 😁).
