My sister and I made a short visit to see my Aunt. She is in nursing home in Hill City. We stayed in Wakeeney, the distance was good for us from Hill City. We enjoyed our experience while there. We found out that My Uncle was buried there in the National Cemetery right behind the Hotel 8. That was awesome we got to go see his gravesite. We had no idea he was there 😊 WaKeeney was a neat little town wish we were there to see the Big Christmas display I hear it’s pretty awesome. Maybe another time. We did get to eat at some really good restaurants while there. That was a plus. I’m pleased with our stay there in WaKeeney.

We were very happy to find this hotel. Convienent to freeway, clean, friendly/helpful staff and amazing rate! Most important, we were two ladies over 70 yrs old traveling alone and we felt very safe!! Places to eat out nearby were very limited. We ended having to eat at a Dairy Queen. We saw a few other places but they were all already closed. We recommend this if you are needing lodging in the area. We were headed to Ness City (no lodging there) and it was an easy drive in the morning.

People are friendly and know how to smile while giving great service. Main street very clean. Multiple eating establishments Dairy Queen, Western Kansas Saloon and Grill, Pizza Hut (great food and service), McDonalds to name a few of the many businesses and many more to explore. Hospital is available for healthcare needs. Gibson Pharmacy on main street is a full service pharmacy with awesome staff. Competitive fuel and several lodging options. it shows the town takes pride in ownership. Definitely worth your time to take a tour.

I wish I had spent no time there. The place was filthy. Beds were re-made, but bathroom wasn't cleaned after previous guest left (wet dirty bath towel still on bathroom floor, soap residue on shower walls and surfaces). So foul.

We were just there for the night. Stayed at the Prairie Rose Inn. What a wonderful place to be! I am so thankful that we chose that place rather than a chain hotel/motel. Price was awesome and oh my goodness, what a delight it was. We stayed and ate wonderful food (they have a great restaurant) all in the same location.

There is a really good free local museum in town. It has some interesting items from the area. We also went downtown to the drug store and had a treat at the soda fountain. They are doing the soda fountain the way it was meant to be.
