Whitefish has a vibrant downtown and is close to lake activities and ski resorts. The downtown is mostly bars, restaurants, and tourist gift shops. We were only in Whitefish for about a day, and as non-drinkers, we didn't find a lot to do in town. It seems like a great, fun spot for bachelor/bachelorette parties, but we had seen enough of downtown after a couple of hours. That said, Whitefish is a great hub for outdoor activities, which is why we visited Montana in the first place. It's about 45 minutes from the west entrance of Glacier National Park, and about 20 minutes north of the airport. It made for a nice way to unwind at the end of a busy trip to Glacier that was close to the airport.

I stayed one day at the hotel before moving on to a Dude Ranch. The hotel was clean, breakfast tasty and staff really nice. Riverside there is a bike path that I used to walk into downtown Whitefish. I did not have a car. I just recently recommended this hotel to a friend that is traveling to Whitefish.

We have been going to Whitefish for many years, staying at state park on the lake in our holiday trailer or hotels. We were always delighted by the people who were welcoming and accommodating. The local foods, hospitality, and things to do in the area made our holidays there something to look forward to. Unfortunately, over the past three or so years, we no longer seem to be as welcome. The atmosphere has changed, we are not one of the locals. We are from Canada. Whitefish is such a quaint place to visit, and hopefully it can regain what it once was.

We loved exploring Whitefish, especially during the June...

We loved exploring Whitefish, especially during the June shoulder season before the hoards of tourists arrive. We were there primarily for the hiking, which was excellent. Of course, Glacier Natl Park was magnificent (although we preferred the more remote east side), and Whitefish Mountain offered some challenging, fun trails. The town has a wide range of restaurants and shops to suit nearly everyone. We enjoyed the Fleur Bake Shop for coffee and Abruzzo Italian for dinner. However, nothing compared to shockingly delicious pizza and salads at Mama Ev's Pizzeria... a real gourmet find! Staying at the Lodge at Whitefish Lake was a bonus, although they weren't yet fully up-to-speed for the season. Overall we'd recommend a pre-season visit, and might plan a return in late September. We'll definitely avoid the peak summer months!

It was a comfortable atmosphere with amazing food at okay prices. The lodges were comfortable, and the bars were well priced and well stocked. The ski school was great; the instructors were talented. What I wish I knew, and what was difficult to find info about online, was that there is very limited space to store your belongings and limited parking. I wish I had known this sooner; it took us most of the first day to learn how to get around the mountain. After we figured it out, it was probably the best place we've skied, and we'd go back. The town of Whitefish is amazing—again, it was hard to find information, but chatting with the bartenders at the lodges helped to figure out the best places to eat and to hang out. Whitefish is definitely a gatekept community—and for good reason.

We came in on the train and snow skied. This was our first time at Whitefish and we loved it. The Firebrand hotel was a perfect location. The rooftop hot tub was such a bonus. I would highly recommend Whitefish and this hotel.

I didn’t like it, I ordered 2 queen beds, they gave me one queen and a sofa, after checking at the hotel they told me that it was the Booking website that said so. Now I also heard from friends that on the Booking website they write that there is parking, but when you arrive there is no parking. I ask you to check this.

Location was great as we were heading off early to drive the Going to the Sun Road. It was also a short drive to Whitefish itself which has plenty of options for food and beverages.
