If you want 5 star resort or constant Wi-Fi (or power) this is not for you. On the other hand if you want a real holiday like holidays used to be - clean tidy accommodation, comfy beds, amiable hosts, a beach, pristine water, snorkelling, kayaking, fishing, exploring then Lonnoc Beach Lodge could be your ticket. It's not far from the main town of Santo, Luganville, but it is remote nonetheless. It is no easy walk to anywhere from the Lodge and taxis on Santo are expensive so I recommend you have transport. If you do, then the World (well in this case Santo) is your oyster. Within easy reach is the famous Champagne Beach but not much further and you are at Port Orly with a longer nicer stretch of beach and simple beach side eateries and cold beer options. You must call in at Hideaway Bay (would warn you about the track in but by now you will be expecting that) Stunning location. Be sure to do the Blue holes. All are beautiful. But if you want to to just sit still, relax, contemplate and sleep and are happy with 3 hours of power daily and no hot water, Lonnoc Beach Lodge will be perfect for you (as it was for me). Thanks hosts Bob and Sarah and Daniel the fisherman too.
It is mildly remote. No hot water, limited electricity, adequate food. A comfortable step above camping. Staff wonderful but few have any experience in an average Australians world. You must adjust your expectation. Extremely beautiful and peaceful. Life slows right down. Up with the sun and to bed with the chooks. Summer is hot but most of the year is great. Suck up the awkward bits and enjoy the location. Lovely swimming and snorkeling.
This is a beautiful part of the world however don't expect luxury here. The accommodation options are basic here however they provide everything you need and the fresh food at the few restaurants in the area is outstanding.
