We had an international wine and food society event over the weekend so visited all the wineries in the area as well as Stanford. Gansbaai was in the middle, so to speak, so very convenient for trips.

The penguin rehabilitation centre was excellent. The harbour is not tourist friendly. If you come to Gansbaai you would love to eat take away fish, But Saturday ,late afternoon no fish and chips were open

It is close to De Kelders, where we saw MANY whales. it is close to Franskraal, which is beautiful. The Boat trip at Marine Dynamics was awesome and the food and atmosphere at the restaurant was exceptional.

Gansbaai was a comfortable city with spectacular views where our family explored the southern coast of South Africa. We discovered hidden beaches, spotted many beautiful Protea flowers, sunbathed on Pearly Beach, went to the fish market in the harbor at Gansbaai, lunched on butter chicken and fish and chips at the Blue Goose, restaurant on Hoop St, hiked Klipgat Caves at the Walker Bay Nature Reserve, glimpsed a pod of orcas, and a mother Southern Right whale and her calf, spotted three of the Marine Big 5, dined at the White House, saw Danger Point lighthouse along a four wheel drive track along the beach, found crazy amounts of beautiful shells on the beach. It was an epic adventure.

Amazing place and location.

Amazing place and location. The staff were very friendly though, especially Carol who makes my wife day so special on her birthday much appreciated, she even upgraded our room that was amazing The ocean view was spectacular, and the breakfast was next level anytime again for me to visit Sea Star Lodge.

We had the king suite, which is enourmous and has the best view on the bay with a lot of windows. The pictures don't do it justice. We also had Christmas dinner with amazing food and a good breakfast. The small indoor poor is also nice to just relax after arriving in the evening before dinner, especially in warm days. The place seems to be a personal home but also used for a hotel. So you have the extras people would only get for their own home like a nice bath, more cosy and comfortable rooms and just better quality.

We self catered. The kitchen was not properly equipped for self catering. Presumably most guests do not self cater. The kitchen was large but didn't have basic pots, pans, kitchen utensils, chopping board etc for cooking breakfast or an evening meal.
