Quick drive to Phalane Gate - the Kruger National Park. Not too far from Echo Caves, and other tourist attractions. shopping center also near. Loved the clean surroundings and people generally helpful and friendly. on our next visit, will avoid packing too many warm clothing as the weather is not unpleasant. will make more time to spend with the hosts who are always willing to share their experiences and pics of nature.
The Cabins dont have kitchens so don't arrive with your family of 4 and think you'll be cooking for them! The location is WONDERFUL and the staff is friendly. Unfortunatelly the maintenance on the property is bad and a lot of money will need to be spent to fix the issues.
I liked the convenience of the Shopping Malls. The town was neat. I felt safe with the regular sighting of the police and the security guards at the Malls anc the lodges. I disliked the potholes. Truck drivers were another inconvenience. Numbi Gate route had huge unmarked speed humps. You needed to literally stop in order to pass them. This can be a serious security threat. It make one an easy target. Continuous road maintenance will help in avoiding long stop and go delays and damages to our vehicles.
We enjoyed the drive to Hazyview, the presence of the old car viewing and Gin and Co by the white river, the drive to Kruger national park, and importantly, the food with an abundance of meat without hesitation. It is easy to get around Hazyview when driving. I would suggest arriving earlier (before the sunset) as there are no street lights for the majority of Hazyview and in some sections of the road there are potholes that might lead to accidents or damage to a vehicle.
Hazyview is a small rural town with close proximity to the Panorama scenic route and the Kruger National Park. In itself, Hazyview is a non event. It does however have two shopping centres for basic necessities, a number of restaurants and three petrol stations. Traffic is surprisingly busy for a small town and the roads are in shocking condition. As a base for exploring the surrounding attractions, it works if you find the right accommodation, of which there is plenty along the Sabie River. But pick somewhere where you have things to do, like one of the resorts, on the days you don't want to be driving, because town centre has nothing to recommend it.
This Blue Jay Lodge was just like home. Comfort, Peace. Wonderful comfy bed. GREAT food. Loved Hazyview. Loved the people, Everything I expected and more. Easy access to airport. Easy to find places to eat and shop. I would come back from America any time!
Easy to be found, very close to Kruger National Park. The hotel is spreaded over a couple of spacious houses, like in a park. Located at Hazyview a couple of k’s to next gate of KNP. The rooms are big, very big. Very nice furniture. Very clean. I decided to stay an additional day! Food is also very good, served in a restaurant close to the hotel (one minute on foot). Service always perfect and friendly. Wifi existing and strong. You get value for your money! Would I come again? YES !!
Hazyview
Great place to stay, a bit longer if you have time. SPACIOUS. Very clean. The road towards the property carries little relationship towards what you will find at the end of your road. It is all reasonably well marked and google maps will help you. After dark, coming from town, the entry road may not be that visible, just remember it is right after the fuel station, on your right. Be aware that you are driving on a busy (Trucks) road, also in the evening.
-- fantastic hotel in hazyview, perfect for Kruger NP self-drivers -- the staff at LP were just the best, always helpful -- very clean, comfortable and new facilities (wifi signal was a little weak at times) -- breakfast had good variety and quality -- excellect value all around; -- strong recommendation!!

We stayed in the honeymoon suite. It was amazing and clean. Some bugs in the room but manageable. Food was excellent and service was first class. The hotel organized our private safari at Kruger, they picked us up from the hotel and provided breakfast packs to go. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Hazyview
It is self catering and the facility is well equipped to prepare your own breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were quite happy with our stay, the area is also close to the malls. The property is also in the vicinity with Kruger National park for private safari to collect and drop off at the property.

Perfect Location with outstanding view. The staff was very nice and the facilities were very clean. We stayed in one of the tents and our expecations were exceeded as you have your private bathroom and your private kitchen. All in all a good base for exploring the national park. The safari drive was also really good and we had a very nice driver, who was keen in telling us about the park and it’s animals.
