The game drives were super fun, with stunning views and we could see 4 of the big 5, thanks to our amazing guide Andrew!! You can feel the exclusive treatment in every way… we were there for 4 nights for our honeymoon, and for each night they prepared dinner in a diferent spot of the hotel! Karel, our host was awesome. This place would not be the same without him as he played many roles during our stay. From welcoming us as we got there, to showing us to our room, to cooking the meat in the boma, to being our guide on the game drives and in general just being an amazing fountain of knowledge was what made our stay memorable. We had some EPIC game drives, seeing Elephant, Rhino, Lions, Cheetahs, a Caracal and many more. Witnessing a Wildebeest calf taking its first steps after being born just minutes ago to small things like hearing birds going crazy and seeing the snake they were chasing off. Karel takes ownership of every aspect of your stay and excels at it. The food was great and the bed comfortable, so nothing to complain about. I loved the outside shower. The other staff were friendly and attentive.

The property is in quiet harmony with the natural environment. The rooms overlook the untouched landscape as far as the eye can see. Wild animals are easily spotted from the private deck. We experienced two game drives per day which allowed us to see the Big Five in just a few days. Led by safari guide Jafari, we were able to get great looks at most of the Pilanesberg wild animals in total safety. On my final day there I made a special request for a Birding Walk around the immediate area and was led by highly experienced guide named Andre through the bush. As we walked for over three hours and 1.63 mi, we observed 47 different bird species including: Spotted Eagle-Owl, Brown Snake-Eagle, Black-winged Kite, Gabar Goshawk, and a Brown-Hooded Kingfisher. The food was prepared by a gourmet chef and was delicious. We all ate at a family style table together for meal time and great conversations.

Pilanesberg National Park is extraordinary not just for the wildlife, but for the landscape itself. The reserve sits inside the remains of an ancient volcanic crater formed over a billion years ago, creating dramatic rings of hills, rich soils and varied habitats that attract an incredible diversity of animals. Driving through it feels almost prehistoric...rugged rock formations, wide plains and beautiful light everywhere you look. A fascinating mix of geology and safari experience.

Convenient to get to from Johannesburg just a three hour drive. Saw a fair number of animals. Didn't enjoy it as much as Tanzania as the drivers can't go off the paths so the animals are often a long way away from the jeeps.

Pilanesberg is nice for foreigners who cannot travel to the Kruger National Park. The roads are bad, so best is to book a game drive. Seeing cats is a lucky dip. A nice stop is lunch at the Manyane restaurant where we saw kudu, giraffe and buck from the deck.

Pilansberg is a 3 hour from Johannesburg.

Pilansberg is a 3 hour from Johannesburg. It is easily accessible however the roads to the Pilansberg are not in great shape. It would be best to take a shuttle than to drive yourself. The park is fantastic with all the animals. We saw many lion, a leopard, many elephants, many rhino and lots more. I highly recommend.

Pilansberg Game reserve is falling apart, literally.

Pilansberg Game reserve is falling apart, literally. This will be our last trip and we have been going for 15+jears. The road to the reserve is horrific but worse is the roads in the reserve itself. The "tarred" sections or what's left of it is one pothole after another, not pleasant to drive at all, even at the 40km speed limit in the reserve. Hides are becoming dangerous, falling apart and the toilet facilities at these hides are TERRIBLE! It is sad to see the facilities in the reserve keep declining.

Pilanesberg has never let us down.

Pilanesberg has never let us down. Even in heavy rain there is always something if you look hard enough and seeing the park in all weathers and different seasons, with the mountains, green spaces, trees, and dams is such a treat. Love every visit! Fish Eagle lookout is spectacular and the salt lick by the visitor centre usually brings in some animals and/or birds toward the start and end of the day - plus the coffee is good.

The experience at the hotel was amazing. They asked us in advance what we would like to eat and if we had any dietary restrictions! The hotel's breakfast is incredible with many options. I would like to mention our safari experience at the Game Lodge; we had two guides, Sibu and Helen, both very knowledgeable and skilled. They showed special attention to my pregnant wife.
