A regular farming town in the mountains of South Africa that...
A regular farming town in the mountains of South Africa that accidentally lies next to the Drakensberg. The town itself has nothing to offer, but it is apparently the hub for the Drakensberg in this area. This might be true if you have your own transport, if not...the National Park is still some 18 km down the road and other areas might not be accessible.

There is a lot of adventure activities to do in the area...
There is a lot of adventure activities to do in the area from hiking in the Drak Gardens area in one direction to Himeville and Sani Pass in the other direction. We did a hike up to the top and back down Sani Pass for CHOC and it was a most memorable experience. Friends have done the tubing experience down the Lion's river and there are some quaint eateries in Himeville and Underberg.

Beautiful Little Town , with lots of friendly stops and things to do/see. I love the small-town aspect of it, as it doesn't feel too commercial. some really special little coffee stops, with immaculate views. A friendly and well appointed town in general, with everything you need.

We hiked on our 1st full day in the Underberg, that leaves...
We hiked on our 1st full day in the Underberg, that leaves the rest of the holiday to recover :-) You need cash to pay the permit at the hiking reception site, which is through Drakensberg Gardens resort. We visited Castelburn, which is a lovely resort and the Lakeview restaurant served good food at reasonable prices. We visited Kenmo Lake, just outside Himeville which is very peaceful even in winter as you can still spot birds and enjoy a lakeside picnic. The Underberg is definitely for those who want to adventure and/or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains.

Underberg CBD is soo dirty,the roads are not taken care of,it’s like a gravel road passing town,but people are so friendly ,Sani park was my favorite,there’s no much restaurant,only KFC & Debonairs,Touring to Lesothovia Sani pass is a must go

There are several resorts and a number of smaller accommodations in this picturesque valley, a hotspot for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts. It is close to the famous Sani Pass, where 4X4 enthusiasts can ascend one of the highest and most scenic trails in Southern Africa. The town has charming shops and eateries, and many of the resorts offer a host of activities, restaurants and outdoor adventure options.

I liked the location- close to the Country Club and close to shops. The only problem with Underberg is that it is quite far from Midlands and we were looking to spend some time there.
The host is also friendly and accommodating. They were helpful when we needed assistance. The electric blanket is quite nice on cold days. The fireplace was disconnected during our visit due to renovations.

I liked everything about the accommodation, it clean and closer to town. The host communicated with me we arrived late but she waited for us 💕
We had everything to keep us warm since it winter and Underberg is very cold but we were so warm. I definitely recommend the accommodation. Will book them whenever I need a stay there 😻

-The quietness!
-Really well fenced - dogs had freedom to run around the cottage garden.
-The location was perfect…right on the water’s edge with a wonderful view of the (snow covered) mountains. Getting there was easy too…just an easy drive from Underberg.

We stayed in the small cottage (annex). It is extremely well equipped with Airfryer, stove and microwave, cutlery, even with a cheese grater.
Additional blankets and radiator to have the cottage heated in cold Underberg. sue was very helpful and responsive.

I liked the privacy. It felt like a home away from home. It's very practical. Underberg and fireplaces (wood) is one of their greatest offerings. Corrie and Susan were great hosts.
