FAQs about hotels in Cape Town

Cool, Colourful Cape

Between mountains and beaches, the 2nd largest city in South Africa mixes history, resilient modernity, and a typical laidback African character. From the top of Table Mountain to the colourful Bo Kaap quarter, and from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront to the modern business district, Cape Town blends multicultural influences and beautiful nature.

Known as Kaapstad in Afrikaans, its sunny weather and mild temperatures make it a perfect place to enjoy the large number of beaches that surround it. From Sunset Beach to Hout Bay, and from Simon’s Town to Gordon Bay, this city offers a variety that suits all tastes. Whale and dolphin watching is a popular activity in False Bay.

Located on the Cape of Good Hope, the city was founded in 1652 by a Dutch trading company as a way-station for ships travelling to the East Indies. With the settling process, all sorts of foreign plants were introduced, including the grapes in the famous Cape Winelands District, just outside Cape Town.

Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

Cape Town just ticks all the boxes.

Cape Town just ticks all the boxes. I was amazed at how clean the city is. The roads in and out of the city are easy to navigate and traffic lights work. We had a lovely dinner at the Foresters Arms in Newlands and did most of our shopping at Cavendish Square in Claremont which caters for all your needs. V&A Waterfront is a must with a spectacular view of the mountain.

The staff are very friendly and courteous, breakfast spread and variety to choose from is vast. Easy access to nearby places. Some are walking distance especially places of interest. If you have your own vehicle expect to pay for parking. They offer a valet service though. They have a pillow menu to choose from. They offer complimentary bath salts for your bath tub. Those small attention to detail stood out for me, not to mention the amenities, especially the soaps etc, they are of good quality and smell so nice.

I feel like Cape Town is really meant for foreign visitors.

I feel like Cape Town is really meant for foreign visitors. Being a regular international traveller, being in Cape Town does not feel like you are having a domestic vacation in terms of the expenses attached to accomodation, flights and entertainment. I know that some areas do charge different rates for locals but even those rates can be quite steep for ordinary South Africans

The Mojo hotel is conveniently located in Sea Point, which is a great area to have your base in if you are visiting Cape Town, as it is close to the CBD, as well as popular Clifton and Camps Bay just a short Uber ride away. Rooms on the terrace have all the basic necessities and are very clean, good value for money if you are traveling alone. Wi-Fi was working most of the time. As it is located on top of the Mojo market, there is always great food available, as well as they have live music every day.
