FAQs about hotels in Cape Town

Cool, Colourful Cape

Between mountains and beaches, the 2nd largest city in South Africa mixes history, resilient modernity, and a typical laidback African character. From the top of Table Mountain to the colourful Bo Kaap quarter, and from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront to the modern business district, Cape Town blends multicultural influences and beautiful nature.

Known as Kaapstad in Afrikaans, its sunny weather and mild temperatures make it a perfect place to enjoy the large number of beaches that surround it. From Sunset Beach to Hout Bay, and from Simon’s Town to Gordon Bay, this city offers a variety that suits all tastes. Whale and dolphin watching is a popular activity in False Bay.

Located on the Cape of Good Hope, the city was founded in 1652 by a Dutch trading company as a way-station for ships travelling to the East Indies. With the settling process, all sorts of foreign plants were introduced, including the grapes in the famous Cape Winelands District, just outside Cape Town.

Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

After our 2024 Global Entrepreneurship Congress + Africa, we were taken for dinner at the water front, where we mingled and discussed business in a relaxed manner. What I didn't like was that our flight was at 06 00 hours so we had to leave for the airport at 04 00 hours. There was not enough time to visit places in Cape Town. We had the privilege to meet The Cape Town Market Management who showed us how they conduct their business. We had alot to learn from them. Cape Town is my favorite city.

Beautiful and vibrant city, with loads of vegan restaurants with some really healthy choices. Use Uber much cheaper than hotel cars. Be careful holding things in your hands, we were warned several times about having a phone or a purse in your hand and the day before we arrived someone was mugged near to our hotel, which was a 5 star one. Visit the PENGUINS at Boulders Beach. Be aware that the Cape of Good Hope is a 3 hour round trip from the city (at least). check the weather as in high winds the cable cars get closed and you cannot go up table mountain.

Everywhere feels convenient when staying in Cape Town. Always amazing restaurants nearby. The malls have everything you need. The beaches are beautiful and most beaches have rockpools nearby if people are afraid to swim in the waves. Public pools are available for people who do not like the ocean. Lots of sightseeing and tourist attractions. The hiking trails are amazing. Would definitely recommend Cape Town for your next trip

I have to admit we did very little planing and research before going. We had a few "absolutes" on a list of things to do but waited until we arrived to make a schedule. Might explain why we were so pleasantly surprised with the scenery, ease of driving around and overall options for outdoors activities. Stunning country albeit with glaring inequalities that do make you stop and think.

Simply sensational. Our suite had the most unimaginable views of the the VA Waterfront and ocean. The suite itself had everything we could ever think to ask for and the Netflix and fast Wi-Fi were great. The hotels location is also incredible with dozens of eateries, coffee shops, convenience stores all with in 2 minutes walking distance. Great gym in the building as well (extra cost) as well as convenient grocery store on the ground floor and a lovely coffee shop as well. Luxury 5 star accommodation the way it should be done.

It's a budget hotel but it had a diverse clientele which was nice. I was expecting everyone staying there to be white tourists (they seem to be everywhere in Cape Town) so it was great to come down to breakfast and see black Africans seated, the women in very colourful dresses. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. They even do a very reasonably priced laundry service. The area was quiet and just two minutes from the famous sea front at Sea Point. I spent two weeks in the hotel and didn't regret it for a minute.

The location was perfect. Right at the entrance to the V&A Waterfront and a short walk to the Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre. Most days we walked via the Canal from the hotel to the Wharf and it was lovely. We especially enjoyed the water machine opposite the vending machine which dispensed free ice cold and fizzy water. Upon check-in, our room wasn't ready so the hotel stored our luggage for us while we went out so we didn't have to worry about carting our luggage everywhere. The staff were always friendly and helpful.

Exquisite boutique hotel in prime location on the Beach Road, right on the promenade. Superb and imaginative design, comfortable and well-appointed room and super friendly and professional staff. What makes it different from many upmarket hotels is personal service - you really feel like a valued guest, not just another customer. There are lots of restaurants nearby, and a secure car park for your vehicle. Cannot recommend it more to anyone wishing a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Cape Town.

This hotel is always an absolute treat! While I always do a fresh search for hotels in Cape Town, from the location to the friendliness of the staff; the beautiful grounds; spaciousness and room comfort - it's no surprise I revert to staying there. This time we took our baby along and he was accommodated for very well in the clean and comfy camper cot - and he particularly enjoyed the indoor swimming pool. It's rare that a hotel can excel in so many aspects!

Excellent breakfast, spectacular view from balcony, and the best location in the Waterfront. So easy to get on the red city bus for a lovely experience of Cape Town. If you love nature and gardens, a visit to Kirstenbosch will be a highlight. We enjoyed eating out at Baia for seafood, the fish was to perfection and at City Grill Steakhouse the steak was excellent. Both restaurants is just five minutes walk from the hotel.
