Offering a garden and inner courtyard view, Simatai No.19 Villa is located in Miyun, 3.5 km from Great Wall of China - Simatai and 8.3 km from Great Wall of China - Jinshanling. It was my husband's birthday. I contacted in advance to have a birthday cake organised and they helped with a home made tiramisu! The accommodation was well thought out and had a comfortable common area to relax. The host was very nice and accommodating, rate 10/10

Boasting mountain views, Beijing Mutianyu Great Wall Wangshanyuan Homestay features accommodation with patio, around 28 km from Great Wall of China - Huanghuacheng. The room was super cozy and clean, the host and his family were super friendly and welcoming. Food was exceptionally well homemade Chinese cuisine and always delicious while delivering a variety of typical Chinese dishes. We were able to book admission tickets for the Great Wall with our host and got a super comfortable shuttle service to get us there and pick us up. Everything felt super warmhearted, welcoming and un-forced. We could choose the time for breakfast and dinner and always had a very homey experience. There are no super markets close by but the Homestay had a fridge with a great selection of super fair priced drinks (Softdrinks, beers) which can be paid easily with Alipay.

Located in Simataicun and only 31 km from Great Wall of China - Simatai, Simatai Great Wall Dexin Folk Restaurant provides accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. We were extremely happy with our decision to stay at this lovely family-run accommodation. The hosts were exceptionally kind and helpful. We were welcomed with warm smiles and a basket of fresh fruit, and on the day of our departure—when we were running a little late—they even offered us a free ride to the bus station. Such genuine kindness truly made our stay special. Our room was spotless, beautifully decorated, cozy, and perfect for a good night’s sleep. The beds were very sturdy and comfortable. The whole place has a peaceful family-home atmosphere, and it’s clear that the owners take great pride in keeping everything clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The property is set in a quiet little village with a couple of nice family-run restaurants just a short walk away. It’s about a 20-minute walk to Beijing Wtown and the bus station along a quiet paved path by the river. The walk is lovely, with beautiful nature views, and there’s even a small riverside park with towers and sculptures that light up beautifully in the evenings—great for photos. If you prefer not to walk, there are plenty of Didi drivers available at any time, and the ride to the accommodation costs only 10–14 RMB. For travelers coming from Beijing, I highly recommend taking the direct bus, which costs 48 RMB per person and takes around two hours to reach the Water Town Bus Station (cash only). The bus leaves from Dongzhimen Outer Bus Station (东直门外) at 09:00 and 13:00, and returns from Water Town at 12:00 and 17:00. Just wait beside the brown signboard that lists all departure times. Beijing Wtown itself is absolutely stunning—full of canals, traditional architecture, small cafés, restaurants, and even boat rides that glide through the waterways, making the whole place feel like a fairytale village. In the evening, when the lights come on, the scenery becomes truly magical. At 20:40 there is a drone show with the illuminated Great Wall in the background, which is unforgettable.

Breakfast was home-cooked meals with multiple side dishes. Mickey, the host, and her family were very welcoming. They provided us with suggestions around our itinerary and helped booked our entry and transport to the Mutianyu part of the Great Wall.
