It's very quiet and we were able to admire the cattle being milked in the fields We didn't realise it was a cook your own supper in the outside Cabanna and so with a few supplies bought locally, we rustled up a mega veggie omelette with burnt sweetcorn - (my fault!) What I loved was the absolute authenticity of this hacienda from the 1700's. You definitely can feel like you have stepped back in time staying here. The rooms are large and filled with period piece furnishings. The gardens are just heavenly! Pablo, part of the owner's family, was completely attentive to what I might enjoy doing, and drove me into Popayan (the hacienda is 20 minutes outside of the city) for visiting the City. Popayan itself was a lovely surprise - it is a beautiful city, with fine restaurants and museums and galleries. Cristina, the cook at Hacienda Pisoje, made a delicious breakfast every morning, served with a beautiful smile. This is not a flashy resort experience. It is a beautiful authentic hacienda restful respite.
