I had never been on an all-inclusive and did not expect much. Nor did I particularly want to go on an all inclusive but decided to do so for the sake of the kids, having been convinced by my wife. All I can say is that if all all-inclusives are half as good as the Mediterraneo Hotel then they are worth it. The food was amazing and the choice plentiful. The two swimming pools and mini slides were ideal for children and grown ups alike. The location was superb. A stone’s throw from the beach 🏖 and a short walk to other hotels where the kids could enjoy different water slides. Taxis were easy to call, there within five minutes. Everywhere you went had a flat rate so no rip offs. For instance, into Hersonissos harbour cost 7 euros (3 kilometres away). For a family of four, that’s cheaper than on the bus.
Above all else though, what made this family holiday one of the best ever was the staff and the people of Crete. The hotel staff were exceptional. Nothing was ever too difficult. At all hours and however busy they greeted us with a smile. I have never known such personnel. The ladies in the restaurant worked tirelessly yet always had the time stop and talk to us, and even feed our baby!!! They made my father feel like a King and even had their pictures taken with him on the last evening. My dad, in his 70s, thought this was the best thing ever. Honestly, I don’t know how the manager managed to hire such people. They are a credit to him, his hotel and to the island of Crete.
Every evening the hotel’s animation team put on a disco and a different show for the kids in a specially built amphitheatre. Our kids loved it and did not want to miss the disco that was on between 9 and half past. In the daytime, the same staff (all foreign, a Belgian, Slovakian and Dutch) ran various events for adults and kids such as darts, water volleyball, aqua aerobics, football etc. Excellent.
We booked for eleven nights, I wish we’d booked for a fortnight. My daughter cried when we left.
