Small / boutique hotel with a good Japanese style rooms. We booked 2 rooms and stayed in the family room with a tatami room in it. I really like the experience of staying there. (All room pictures were taken when we were leaving / check out from the hotel, it was very neat when we arrived) The locations are also good, located in a residentials neighborhood, with walking distance to the Nishiki Market and the Shijo - Dori Street areas. The service is also very nice, all the crew can speak english, and I got a simple and nice birthday gift from the hotel (pict #3). ❤

Opening in March 2014, Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shinmachi Bettei offers accommodations with a modern yet traditional décor. The room was spatious enough to accomodate both of us and two big luggage bags as well. Water was provided every day, room was clean, everything worked and the atmosphere was very silent and relaxing. The lobby is beautiful, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly both at check in and at check out. The onsen was a huge bonus and very pleasant to soak in. Really liked the fact that you could check how busy it was from the TV in the room. Being able to do laundry as well as checking the status from the TV in the room was also a nice feature.
