Nirvaan is a wonderful lodge in the middle of nature and very close to Wilpattu national park. We were lucky to be around when Ranil, the owner, was there. Ranil is a respected conservation biologist and a wealth of knowledge about flora and fauna in Wilpattu and in Sri Lanka at large. He arranges safaris with good naturalists and drivers. His trips may be a bit more costly than what other providers will offer you, but you get a better jeep where you can interact with the guide and driver while you drive. We saw lots of wildlife even though we did not see the big ones- elephants and leopards. Ranil runs an organisation that aims to protect wildlife in cooperation with local people. He was so kind to take us to see one of the projects nearby. We admire the work he does. We highly recommend this lodge.

Everyone was super nice. It was quiet and they accommodated all my wishes. I wanted to extend for two more days and it was no problem at all. Very new clean and comfortable place with nice private rooms, comfy beds and great location. Short walk to the beach, shops and restaurants. The owner is also very helpful and friendly and generous.

The property is huge, incredibly clean, and so peaceful that it felt like time slowed down. The architecture is stunning—eco-chic in the best way. We stayed in one of their luxury tents, and let me just say... it was out of a dream. Spacious interiors, a thoughtfully designed bathroom, and an outdoor shower that made me feel like I was in a nature-luxe fantasy. The view? Breathtaking. There's even a windmill nearby that adds a rustic charm to the horizon, and we loved it—it added so much character to the vibe. The pool was picture-perfect, and the whole atmosphere just made us feel like we had escaped to our own private paradise. Dinner was beautifully arranged—delicious, fresh, and served with care. In the morning, we asked if we could have breakfast by the beach, and they went out of their way to set it up for us. That gesture alone won my heart. I truly don’t understand why this place isn’t packed—maybe that’s part of its charm. But trust me, more people need to discover this slice of heaven. I’ll definitely be going back.
