We stayed here for four nights, and it was absolutely amazing! 1. The concept itself is still quite unique. It’s hard to find high-quality glamping, but this place truly delivers! 2. The breakfast was perfect—every morning, a new selection of food was delivered in a basket right to our house. A dream! 3. The heated infinity pool was incredible and made the experience even better. Once again, everything was well thought out, and it’s truly a great place to stay! P.S. It’s quite funny to read some comments about sound isolation… People, it’s still a tent, and you’re in nature! Please think about that before writing a review.

Calheta Glamping Pods - Nature Retreat, a property with a garden, is located in Calheta, 27 km from Girao Cape, 29 km from Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools, as well as 35 km from Marina do Funchal. It was a magnificent place with a breathtaking view. The pod was spotless and comfortable, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and we especially loved the fresh bread delivered every morning. It was the perfect peaceful getaway surrounded by nature.

The tent also includes a barbecue. the views! the location was convenient for me bc I had a rental car to get to my hikes. and easy checkin with access code and communication. it depends what your visit is for if this location will suit you but it suited me very well. i really appreciated the kitchen amenities. i’d grocery shopped and made my own meals with a gorgeous garden to enjoy and stunning mountain views.

It’s also a 6-8 hour round trip to pico do Areiro hiking from the shelters, just follow the markers.

There's a great place to eat and drink (O Barracão), just 10 mins walk from the cabin, and it's only 20 minutes drive from Funchal (we had a rental car, but I believe there's a bus stop nearby too). It felt like a little home away from home, bed was very comfortable, shower was excellent and the little kitchenette had a stove top, microwave, kettle, coffee machine and fridge. Our host was wonderful, very welcoming and gave us lots of recommendations. I would definitely stay here again!
