The view was incredible, made sure to wake up early to see the sunrise on the lake Onsen is very nice and they sell tattoo patches if you have small tattoos that need covering. If you have a lot of tattoos, it's about a 20 min drive to a tattoo-friendly onsen town Room was a nice combination of traditional and modern as there were Western beds but also a tatami room. Lots of amenities in the room, bathroom was also lovely. Staff are very polite and helpful (I forgot my earbuds and they are posting them to me) Good option for a couple get-away, would happily go back again

Situated in Kyoto, 1.8 km from Kyoto Imperial Palace, Kamo Residences by Reflections features accommodation with a fitness centre, private parking, a garden and a bar. I booked a suite with garden river view and got a complimentary upgrade to a Panorama suite. Beautiful interior and wonderful feeling floating above the river. I was a le to see the mountains and shrines beyond. The manager Rio was so kind to book all our restaurants. The high season is super busy, but we haven't missed a single thing. Excellent location and very near my favorite Shrine, Shimogamo Jinja. The other days, we hiked up and down the river, lovely places and restaurants in the neighborhood. For sure, try the local deserts offered.

Set in Kizugawa, in a historic building, 13 km from Nara Station, Kizuna Guesthouse is a recently renovated bed and breakfast with a garden and shared lounge. This was hands down one of the highlights of our trip. Yukie and Kevin are exceptional hosts that went above and beyond to make this a really memorable stay. Together with their lovely cats they really make it feel like you're at home. They drove us from and to the train station, provided interesting trip ideas and even gave a caligraphy lesson. The breakfasts were amazing and each dinner was full of great food and laughter. The futon beds were very comfortable and the room very clean. Thanks once again for an amazing stay, we wish we could have stayed longer.

Set in Kyoto, in a historic building, 2.4 km from Kinkaku-ji Temple, Daitokuji Sushicho is a ryokan with a garden and shared lounge. The host and his wife were both great and made us feel like home from the first moment. Super polite and genuine hospitable! The room was also excellent at creating the full japanese living experience! As a bonus, it has it's private little Japanese garden on the backyard which we liked very much!

Featuring a sauna, Thank you so muchya Miyaco is located in Kyoto. Conveniently set in the Sakyo Ward district, this holiday home provides free bikes, as well as a hot tub. Everything was incredible. Toru-san was very accommodating and friendly, and also a genius for making the machiya so beautiful and charming. The design of the machiya was absolutely brilliant, and every tiny detail had been thought of. Toru even provided us with tea and snacks, which we were very grateful for after long days exploring Kyoto. The bedrooms were very cosy and comfortable, and the bathroom and sauna were just perfect for a soak and a relax at the end of the day. I could go on forever about how excellent the machiya was, but there's only so much you can fit into a short review! "さんきゅうそうまちや! "
