Our first stop in Sumatra was at Lilly's Guesthouse, where we were very warmly welcomed by her and her husband Ishako. From the first moment we felt welcome and completely at home. We booked a two-day jungle trek. Our adventure began on the second day after our arrival, together with our guide Iman and a French couple, Carolane and Romain. There was immediately a nice click, and so we trekked into the jungle together. Blood, sweat, but no tears - what an experience! Without Iman, the trek would definitely not have been the same. What a top guy! After two days of trekking and a night's sleep in the middle of the jungle, we arrived safely back at the guesthouse. How happy we were to finally shower again and sleep in a comfortable bed! As icing on the cake, we also enjoyed a wonderful massage - how good that felt! After that we wanted to travel on to Lake Toba, and coincidentally that was also Lilly's plan with her family. Transportation was completely arranged by them, and together we traveled to our next destination. Along the way, we had lunch together, took the same ferry and once again shared beautiful, enjoyable moments. In Tuktuk our paths parted, as we had each booked our own guesthouse, but we met up a few more times. Each time it was a warm reunion! What we really want to say: we felt like one of them. JUNGLE LIFE GUEST HOUSE - Trekking & Transport Only Book With Us is set in Bukit Lawang and has a pool with a view and river views. For our family, Bukit Lawang was absolutely one of the best places best have ever been. The stay at Jungle Life Guesthouse was superb. We ended up staying 2 weeks, so we got a much fuller cultural experience getting to know the owners. Alek is very friendly and enthusiastic, and Nabil was very attentive and helpful. They were great organizers of our 2-day jungle trek. (Which can be physically challenging, but if our nearly 60 year old mom can do it, so can you!) They were hosts who went out of their way for us on multiple occasions. We loved our experience at jungle life guest house and hope to be back.
