This hotel and hostel lies in the historic heart of Leipzig, within a 4-minute walk of the market square and St. Thomas Church, and a 10-minute walk from Leipzig Main Station. Five Elements Hostel Leipzig offers a 24-hour reception and free Wi-Fi.

The colourful rooms and dormitories at the Five Elements Hostel Leipzig all include an en suite bathroom. There is a safety locker for each person. Our family of four loved our stay at Five Elements. The location cannot be beaten. So many options for eating within just 100m or the hostel, that is after you have filled yourself on a German style breakfast. The room was spacious and modernly updated.

a&o Leipzig Hauptbahnhof

Mitte, Leipzig

This hotel is centrally located in the historic post office building, directly opposite Leipzig Central Station. It offers free Wi-Fi in all rooms and a rich breakfast buffet.

Behind a classic-style façade, the a&o Leipzig Hauptbahnhof hotel features modern rooms with a work desk and wooden flooring. We are a family of 5 so finding one room to accommodate us all can be difficult. The hostel/hotel part of the name made me nervous because I didn’t want the sixth bed in our room going to a stranger but they have dormitory/hostel style rooms and family rooms with private bathrooms! Perfect! The room was spacious and had enough beds for us all. It was clean. The location was perfect to the train station and downtown. Parking was cheaper at the hotel if there’s room but if not, there is a parking garage across the street for €15 a day. Noise was never an issue. Staff was friendly. Great property!

Oskars Absteige

Zentrum-Sued, Leipzig

This hostel is located in the lively south of Leipzig, near many bars, restaurants and shops. Oskars Absteige offers free WiFi and is less than a 10-minute walk from the city centre.

The hostel has its own restaurant, beer garden, bar and music saloon. There was no breakfast included. The restaurant was only open from 6-11pm. Closed on Sundays. The food in the restaurant and staff were very nice. I recommend the sweet potato fries. The music selection could be better.

Hostels – what are they?

Hostels offer so much more than a cheap place to stay – they're also a fun way to travel and meet like-minded people. Common areas like shared kitchens and game rooms give you the chance to swap tips, tricks, and travel stories with backpackers from all over the world.

Hostels have come a long way since the first youth hostel opened back in 1912. Nowadays there's something for everyone, from budget "crash pads" to 5-star "poshtels." Whether you'd prefer a bed in a shared dorm or your own private room, you'll see that most hostels are cheaper than local hotels – and a lot more fun, too!
