  • The 10 Best Hostels in Edinburgh, UK

Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.

Hotels That Guests Love in Edinburgh
  • Friendly and helpful staff. One of them told me where I could park for free! Great location near City Centre. Great value considering the standard was as good as some hotels. Met one of the board members, William Thomson(?), who took an interest in what some of the guests felt about staying in Youth Hostels (bearing in mind we are not "youths"! I liked that approach.

  • Breakfast was great! The kitchen and all the finishes are really nice. Very good change from a typical backpackers hostel.

  • The young Gentleman at the front desk was quite helpful, polite. The breakfast was varied and interesting, a good introduction to Scotland, even if the hotel itself had a bit of a 'youth hostel' feel to it. We are old fogies, but we have no complaints. Great for the young with limited funds.

  • Classic hostel experience, perfect for backpackers who look forward to explore the city, not luxurious hotel suites. That said, I by no means intend to say that Hight Street Hostel was in any way lacking. It was clean, well cared for, comfortable, and with friendly staff and nice lounge place to hang out at. The position right within the city centre is the best, also train station and aiport bus depart/arrival station is really conveniently close.

  • For a youth hostel, the standard of service and facilities was excellent, and for a great price. Having a bright, clean and, amazingly, en-suite room all to myself was a level of luxury I did expect from this category of accommodation.
