International Students Residences

Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Located in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, this hostel is 2 minutes’ walk from the Marcy Avenue J underground station, which is just one station away from Manhattan. Free high speed WiFi is accessible throughout International Students Residences. The experience is similar to camping: you stay with people that you don't know, you get know them and build rapport, and everything is all cool. You can also check your bags behind the counter if need be. It was a great place to meet people, great location next to the M and J lines, secure place to store your belongings, and I highly recommend it for short stays.

Brooklyn carries a stigma but l found it to be nice added bonus next to police station. Food very cheap in the area not like Manhattan so ate befor and after our days out. Transport was excellent 24hrs so not restricted plus we got a pass for 33 dollars to use all forms of transport for a week. This was New York done on a shoestring and wow we did and everything possible x

Hostels – what are they?

Hostels offer so much more than a cheap place to stay – they're also a fun way to travel and meet like-minded people. Common areas like shared kitchens and game rooms give you the chance to swap tips, tricks, and travel stories with backpackers from all over the world.

Hostels have come a long way since the first youth hostel opened back in 1912. Nowadays there's something for everyone, from budget "crash pads" to 5-star "poshtels." Whether you'd prefer a bed in a shared dorm or your own private room, you'll see that most hostels are cheaper than local hotels – and a lot more fun, too!
