Located in Moyogalpa, Rancho Tranquillo offers beachfront accommodation 34 km from Maderas Volcano and provides various facilities, such as a garden and a terrace. The owners Daniela & Tony went above and beyond for their guests to make sure we were all comfortable and had everything for our stay. Beds in the dorm were comfortable, bathroom was clean, everyone had a fan, drinking water provided, hammocks, a delicious affordable breakfast was also an option which I highly recommend! The location was close to the ferry port, it was very easy to explore other parts of the island by renting a scooter.

La Urraca Loca Hostel has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Balgue. Featuring barbecue facilities, the property is located within 12 km of Maderas Volcano. We had an amazing stay at La Urraca Loca. The location on the island is perfect for most activities. The hostel is an oasis of beautiful plants and the rooms are great. Also Daniel is very helpful and attentive. I’ve recommended this hostel to everyone who visits Ometepe since it is probably my favorite on in my two months in Central-America. Also shoutout to the lovely kitten Gnocchi (such a good name.. ;))

Situated in Moyogalpa, 39 km from Maderas Volcano, Hostel Life is Good features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Really friendly and helpful staff, good food, fun Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Theme. Nice location, walking distance to town/the ferry but quiet and away from the commotion.

Cocos Hostel has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Moyogalpa. There is free private parking and the property features paid airport shuttle service. Staff was so kind, room was clean and comfortable with a fan for each bed, location was perfect for getting on the ferry the next day and they are able to help set up rides/excursions. Excellent value for the price, would definitely stay again!

El Zopilote Permaculture Farm/hostel is a backpackers hostel and a permaculture farm at the same time. We offer various types of hospitality like private rooms, dormitories, camping areas and... The place is completely located in nature. It’s so lovely and beautiful. They have nice activities! I love the permaculture project and the 2hours-free yoga every morning. I also really liked the mushroom tour and the pizza night with psytrance music. You also can rent scooter and go to the waterfalls. The stuff and the volunteers are super nice and helpful and the food is super delicious.

Hostal Casa Moreno has an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Moyogalpa. This 3-star hostel offers a bar. Everything was great! Super nice and helpful staff. Helped us organize tours and transport. Breakfast was great. We will come again.

Set in Santa Cruz, Raindance offers beachfront accommodation 1.7 km from Santo Domingo Beach and offers various facilities, such as an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a bar. It’s social and the dorms and the bed are really nice with a lot of privacy

Situated in Las Pilas, 17 km from Maderas Volcano, Rainbow Caravan Hostel features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant. The place was very clean and tidy, tranquil, and no noise at night which is rare in Nicaragua because there's always someone making some noise. The food was quality, homemade vegan goodness. Making a fire was cool and it has all the modern amenities like a fridge and cooking equipment so you can bring beer. Didn't have any bugs unlike some of the other hostels i stayed in on Ometepe. It's quite a good location equidistance between the two towns and near the start of Volcan Concepción. I recommend renting an ATV rather than a scooter at the port and picking it up in Ometepe, don't trust the people on the San Jorge side. The hostel also offers scooter rental although I picked mine up at port. Very photogenic hostel and peaceful.

Set in Altagracia, 16 km from Maderas Volcano, B&B, family run homestay, Hospedaje La Penita offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Learned this was one of the original hostels on Ometepe. Breakfasts and dinners were freshly prepared with local ingredients. Their dogs and cats were very nice to spend time with. The hosts can lease scooters and deliver them for competitive prices. Communication with host prior to and during stay was excellent.
