When we arrived after a long day on the roads, she offered to upgrade us for a better sleep. Loved her! Her house? A small paradise for any hiker arriving at Turangi! Clean, spacious, easy for socializing, offering a variety of facilities and free parking! Definitely one of our best stays in whole new Zealand!

It is just 5 minutes' walk from the Rotorua Visitors Centre and bus stops. The property is within walking distance to a weekly night market. STAFF! They're so friendly! One of the housekeepers offered to change the bedding and made me feel welcome. The location is perfect as well. There is a huge lounge and a lot of places to sit and socialize. Also, you can find DVD of movies (I think as I didn't watch anything but I saw others did). It's not crowded and I loved that at least some of the rooms had a couple of proper beds (not bunks). That makes rooms not crowded and it's a nice change if you spend quite a bit of time in hostels.

The location is quite superb if you're relying on public transport - it's a few minutes away from Courtenay Place, which is a major bus stop; it is also right in front of a large supermarket. The room I was in was small, but appropriately sized for 2 beds, as opposed to the room I had in Auckland within the same chain. Luckily I didn't share the room with anyone else, but even if I had, there would have still been plenty of space. I only used the kitchen and lounge to fill up my water bottle, but the space looked spacious and well-equipped. But otherwise there were plenty of restaurants on a wide range of budget. The staff were friendly and helpful too.
