For those celebrating a special event, the Whalers Inn at the Bluff with its eye-popping northerly views over the bay to Victor should be considered too. Those who would like to be a little more action-oriented, the Encounter Lake is perfect for swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding from its protected sandy beach. The Encounter bikeway goes all the way to Goolwa and passes through some outstanding scenery along the beaches…you won’t get bored, that’s for sure! The 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home has a peaceful Asian feel and the quality furniture and fittings will ensure your stay is a pleasant and memorable occasion. Both bedrooms have a queen size bed and built in robes. Two spacious living areas with comfortable modern sofas, a 60′ plasma TV, DVD player and an interesting library will keep you entertained should you choose to stay in and relax. The rear deck is a great place to enjoy the prolific bird life whilst enjoying a bottle or two of the Fleurieu’s famous wines. All year comfort is guaranteed with reverse cycle ducted air conditioning. The property is securely fenced to keep you and your pet safe and sound. The small rear courtyard is deck and garden. Best Beach, Walks & Parks Encounter Wetlands A lovely walk particular in windy conditions as its far more sheltered than the beach. Located at Matthew Flinders Drive (on the other side of Tabernacle Road) this reserve has shelters and a walking path to enjoy this natural haven. Encounter Wetlands is an attractive parkland area that utilises the natural wetlands of Encounter Bay. Esplanade Nothing beats walking along the ocean – there is a sealed path that takes you all the way from The Bluff (at the far end of Franklin parade) to Goolwa (passing through Victor Harbor, Hayborough, Port Elliot and Middleton). There are doggy bag spots along the way John Crompton Reserve John W Crompton Reserve – corner of Tabernacle and Nicholas Boudain, a lovely park with play equipment, gardens and a beach on the lake. Great for small and big kids alike. Kent Reserve Located at the Victor Harbor end of Franklin Pde, this large park has a small basketball court, adult gym equipment, BBQ facilities, shelters and toilets Kings Beach King’s Beach Retreat offers two self-catering retreats located on prominent King’s Head a thirty minute walk from Victor Harbor’s Bluff it commands amazing views along this famous wilderness coast… A two minute walk by a private access track takes you to secluded, sheltered King’s Beach or to the Heysen Trail which is fast gaining an international reputation for stunning coastal walks. Take a ten minute drive to Encounter Bay and enjoy a variety of restaurants and cafes. A fifteen minute drive will take you to Victor Harbor which boasts restaurants, hotels, major supermarkets, cafes, library, DVD hire and of course the famous horse drawn tram to Granite Island.
