South Gippsland - Prom Country - Australia's best kept secret. Only two hours drive from Melbourne, this is the place where you can walk the beach along Waratah Bay and have it all to yourself. On the drive down through Gippsland's rolling green hills, you might sample the wares at the gin distillery in Loch or the microbrewery in Korumburra, stop to browse at Lacy's Jewellers as you come through Meeniyan or drop in to the Alison Lester bookshop in Fish Creek. Once here, you can do as much or as little as you like. Hike in Wilsons Prom, ride a bike along the Great Southern Rail Trail, wind surf at Shallow Inlet, explore the lime kilns at Walkerville or just lie on the beach at Waratah Bay. You can feast on wonderful local artisanal produce - Berry Creek cheese, Amber Creek ham, Fish Creek olive oil, washed down with award-wining wine from Waratah Hills or delicious cider from Gurney's Cidery.
