I really like the staff service and how they were happy to help! The room we first booked got upgraded to one with a balcony which was unexpected but very lovely. We really enjoyed our stay, the services were great! The breakfast was good and it had variety of options every day which made it better. The staff was always happy to help, we got a cocktail upon arrival, we got shown our room and how to use the facilities. It had free wifi which was really good too, we used the taxi services as well and that was also very safe.

The airport is easy to reach, taking only 5 minutes to arrive and 10 minutes to leave. The pool is small but cozy. Each day, they offer a different breakfast menu, and the room is kept impeccable every day. There is some noise from the airport, but it's not concerning. The view from the balcony is stunning.

FAQs about hotels in Cartagena de Indias

Caribbean History, Colour and Soul

Colourful and historic, modern and colonial, local and touristic, Cartagena de Indias represents one of the liveliest Colombian beach resorts. Its character mixes cultures and peoples, including natives, Spanish, African and Arab. Its rich legacy granted its Old Town the recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

When the Spanish founded the city in 1533, the region had already been inhabited for thousands of years. It became an important port for the Spanish gold and a significant political centre. Echoes of those times can be seen throughout the historic centre, in the city walls, the San Felipe de Barajas Castle, and the colourful streets and colonial squares. Some of the best hotels in Cartagena de Indias can be found here.

Proudly Caribbean, Cartagena’s soul gives the rhythm to the streets, and the music coming out of cafés and restaurants is nothing but a physical manifestation of its collective spirit. Follow the beat, get to the seaside, and have one of your best holidays. Hotels near Cartagena de Indias’ beaches will be the perfect stage.

You can reach the city flying from Bogotá El Dorado International Airport to Rafael Nuñez Airport. Don’t miss this remarkable piece of Colombia, Booking.com offers you the best hotel deals in Cartagena de Indias.

Cartagena has a beautiful and historic old town which was great to visit and explore. The standard of food in the restaurants we sampled was very good and there is plenty of choice. The beaches are busy city beaches which are an option for a more relaxed day but they didn't appeal that much to me. I loved the old town though and would visit again.

The people including the ever present police keeping a low profile whilst providing assurance. The police and the locals always are always ready to help with a genuine smile. Music and dancing in every corner of the city this brings joy to locals and all around them. Their smile is very contagious

The walled city it’s the only beautiful part of town . The nearby museums and tourist sites are free at least some of them are. Catching a cab for a 1 km distance they charge too much…. You cannot walk to all its tourist. The beach is dirty and you have to pay to go to nearby beaches.

I'm happy I visited Cartagena, however, I have no desire to ever go back. This place is a stereotypical tourist trap destination but on steroids. The worst part is the constant harassment by the street vendors. Every street, every corner has dozens of them and they are very aggressive to the point of being intolerable. They open their pitch with "Where are you from?" DON'T FALL FOR IT. Ignore them, keep walking, no eye contact, and don't speak or you'll become their latest 'mark'. The city itself has litter and garbage everywhere. Ironic in contrast to all the "Eco" proclamations you'll see. There are endless overpriced restaurants, endless stores and shops all selling the same useless junk and many nightclubs. The closest analogy to Cartagena is Cabo San Lucas though Cabo is much cleaner. If all you want to do is shop, eat, and party, then this might be for you. The purpose of my trip was scuba diving in the Rosario Islands for three days and 5 days in Cartagena. I should have divided my time in reverse. I saw all the meaningful Cartagena sights in two days, including walking the wall twice. I will say three good things here and they are that I never felt unsafe walking around despite the street vendors, I did not get sick from brushing my teeth with the tap water, though I did primarily drink bottled water, and Uber is reliable, safe, and cheap. Most rides were $2-$3 and I always tipped the driver cash. My location was 2 blocks from a supermarket that has a cafe in it which was a great place to buy sandwiches, snacks, fruit, water, and beer. It gets really hot here and don't underestimate the sun's UV. Best times to go out are early morning or late afternoon. Lastly, 99% of the people here do not speak English (even if they claim they do) so be prepared if you don't know Spanish. Conclusion: glad I went, but won't go back.

Sorry, It was one bad experience after another.

Sorry, It was one bad experience after another. The people selling stuff everywhere you went was uncomfortable. I found dirty and run down. I'm glad I went, sorry I stayed. The aviary was nice, the beach in Baru(?) Was beautiful, but everything had a price, once again, the people that were selling stuff everywhere was overwhelming. Not my kind of place

I loved the hotel and the staff. They went above and beyond and were super helpful with everything. I arrived early and they accommodated me and ensured I had breakfast, they organised my taxi from the airport to the hotel, they recommended some great restaurants, one was called Sambal and the food was great. It is very near Getsemani and the old city. I felt safe. KATHY AND IVAN were exceptional. A huge thanks to them.

The staff was very welcoming, Carlos, Jennifer, and Brayan made sure that our stay was perfect from the beginning until the very end. The breakfast was AMAZING, and the hotel facilities were a 10 out of 10. The location was ideal as we could safely walk through the old city and come back to the hotel without getting lost. It was also close to some great restaurants. I don't think we could have picked a better hotel.

unbelievable property, we had a room with two floors, and a Japanese toilet! Excellent design and all very recently done. Right in the heart of the old city. Lovely welcome cocktail, and the reception staff and general staff around the hotel extremely polite and very good to us. They even looked after our suitcase for three days whilst we went to another island. Would highly recommend it’s worth the money

Fabulous boutique hotel in historic old town of Cartagena. Couldn’t ask for any better…. Lovely rooms, good restaurant. Fantastic staff especially Jordhan who’s the best concierge I’ve met. I’d previously stayed at the Santa Clara which is also really lovely but I’d stay here again without hesitation.

Nice and quiet hotel outside of the busy streets of Getsemani and the old city, just a 10 minute walk to Getsemani. Had a few problems with the paying, but sorted it with Richard's help. All in all good stay also because of the kitchen we could use. And Richard was a great host
