Very close to the well-known Plaza de San Nicolás and isolated from the rest of the sections of the wall that surrounded the Alcazaba Cadima del Albaicín, is this tower, which is located right next to the Plaza de la Charca. To get to it, either take Carrer de la Charca, which borders the Albaicín Health Center (you can also see it from its patio), or take the staircase that appears in the photograph, which goes up from the Plaza de la Charca, behind the Collegiate Church of El Salvador. We are in what is the oldest area of ​​Granada, as has been shown by excavations such as those carried out for the construction of the Albaicín mosque, with not only Arab remains, but also sections of Iberian and Roman walls, which give an idea of the importance of this strategic place on high to form the initial urban nucleus of Granada. The tower stands out, more because of its artistic importance, for being an isolated landmark of a wall that in other places, such as the one that runs along the Cuesta de la Alhacaba, is better preserved. Its cube shape increases the defensive character of what was the Zirid wall; an almost impregnable wall for the time.

With the exception of the Alhambra, the Mirador de San Nicolas is one of the most emblematic sites in Granada. It is a square in the Albaicin with spectacular views of the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada. Almost every visitor to Granada will come here at some point to take a photo with the Alhambra in the background. Most people will spend about 15 minutes enjoying the stunning view.
