This simple charming rustic studio with pool and spacious fragrant garden is a great stay for one person/couple en route or wanting to explore this beautiful region of France. Its tranquil location and pace of life is just perfect to unwind and re energise with the surrounding beauty of nature and roaming wild life. Idyllically situated on the edge of a quiet hamlet over looking a vast unspoilt countryside with amazing sunsets, star filled nights …and an imposing medieval chateau in our village of Jumilhac Le Grand just a few minutes away! Rose studio is apart of our home, but with a separate external entrance. The actual living and sleeping space is all in one ‘semi open plan’ with a separate suitably equipped bright cheerful kitchen and quirky shower/ toilet room off. It’s simple, characterful and welcoming with aged oak beams with wooden furniture reflecting the natural environment. You will notice the spectacular aroma and variety of roses outside your door and window. We have a lovely variety, and during the summer nights the strong scent of wild lavender, jasmine, and honeysuckle combined creating a warm romantic ambiance! Kelvin and I moved to France 14 years ago and live in a very beautiful part of the Dordogne. We came here for the natural surrounds and the amazing tranquility this region offers. Over the years we have had many rescue dogs and currently only have three. My other interests are cooking, art, designing, dancing and music. We have travelled considerably and just enjoy meeting people from all walks of life! I am a competent cook, so if you feel like an authentic Indian curry during your stay.. give me a shout! Also having the pizza oven .. you can order one or even prepare one for yourself… it’s fun! We sometimes let out 3/4 small tents that we let out at the bottom of our spacious garden … this is completely separate. Yoga and meditation has played a very important part in my life .. my home and garden is a wonderful place for this as you will see. We have given much thought to our home and garden with the sense of belonging and living along side nature … the peace, serenity and quietness. Additional information: The shower door opens inwards due to the size and layout of the room. So when opening the door please be aware of the shower head! Two kitchen cupboards will be locked, however, others will be open for your use. Please use coasters supplied on wooden surfaces to avoid spillages and damage. We provide hanging rail (s) with one chest of drawers, and a small wooden unit for your clothes. There is a microwave/ oven in the kitchen only. Coasters are placed on the wooden surfaces to avoid spillages and damage to furniture. Your furry friend must be kept on the lead when leaving and entering the premises at all times as we have dogs and it’s their territory. Please pick up and dispose of any accidents inside and outside of the studio.

We live on the cusp of an old farming hamlet which was originally the part of the estate of the local Chateau of Jumilhac Le Grand. Surrounding our property are the woodlands that form part of the Perigord National Park offering enjoyable walks and the chance to encounter the local wildlife ( stags, wild boar, birds of prey to name but a few. Also it’s a great area for the keen cyclist! For those with an interest in history we are on the route of Richard Coeur de Lion who, following injury died in a neighbouring town of Chalus. A good twenty minute walk into the village gives the basic amenities such as a well supplied mini market shop, boulangerie, boucherie, pharmacy, hair dressers, post office, fuel station, an ATM , two bars one of which offers a varied menu of local cuisine in its popular restaurant. It’s location is perfect as it’s outdoor dining area sits in front of the great chateau. This is also the site for the local Sunday market. A 15 minute drive will bring you into our main town of St Yrieix le Peche offering a wider range of facilities such as supermarkets, restaurants and actives such music, art events and a hospital with an A&E should the need arise.
