Peace and quiet! A relaxing place to stay! Our room is a very comfortable, quiet double bedroom with ensuite shower. It is situated at the 'other' end of our shady terrasse so is quite independent from the main house. We offer free wifi, parking and continental breakfast including honey from our own beehives. You will be able to come and go as you please and the room is lockable. Our house is an old 'fermette' (farmhouse) and dates back 200 years. The bed and breakfast room is called The Prune Room as it is built on the site of an old prune drying oven. We have a large garden to sit in or wander around. You can have an evening drink next to our wildlife pond and listen to the frogs croaking and watch the dragonflies. We have chickens which you can help feed and collect the eggs if you wish. Prunes are one of the main farming industries around us, along with sunflowers and maize. We also have a few vineyards but the main wine growing area is around 15km from us. Our area is ideal for walking or cycling and there is a coarse fishing lake very close by. There are numerous chateaux and Bastide towns nearby so if history is your thing, then you are in the right place. The local markets, which buzz with a healthy mix of locals and tourists alike, offer fresh produce, local cheeses and charcuterie alongside tablecloths, sandals, clothing and haberdashery - everything you need! Evenings in the area offer fabulous evening food markets - tables gourmands - where you choose and purchase your food, find a seat in the middle of the throng, sit back, eat, drink and be entertained by live music. In July and August, on certain dates, you may encounter one of the Journee Medievales. A celebration of the 'moyen age' which includes amongst other things, jousting, ancient crafts and an amazing authentic medieval banquet in the evening. We really have something for everyone: from quiet evenings in local restaurants to canoeing down the river and live music events.

We came to live in France 16 years ago and have loved every minute of it. We have recently retired from our small business and are enjoying more free time. We opened our Prune Room in 2016 and love meeting new people. Everyone has a different story to tell. We enjoy the relaxed life out here along with the good food, wine and sunshine. We hope, that if you stay with us, you too, will enjoy a relaxing time. We enjoy walking around the lake with our border collie Buffy and sometimes one of our 4 cats will come with us - which causes amusement to any fishermen or other walkers on the lakeside!

Our house is set in the countryside. We are about 5km from the nearest village where you can find a couple of places to eat, a bar, bakers shop, grocery store and a butcher. There is also the obligatory (in France!) hairdressers and pharmacy! The Chateau de Lauzun was developed from the original medieval fortress as a Renaissance palace, hosting visits from Catherine de Medicis and her son, the future King Charles IX. The church of St Etienne has a 15th-century Madonna and child sculpture, a 16th-century polychrome statue of Christ and a 17th-century altar and pulpit, commissioned by Nompar de Caumont, Compte de Lauzun, in 1623. Further afield, you will find plenty of vineyards where you can have wine tastings. There are many bastide towns in the area, of which many have beautiful covered market places, arcades and architecture to enjoy.
