Live like in ancient times but with all the modern amenities in the historic center of Vannes. This 2 room apartment ( Le refuge d'HENRIETTE ) is on the second floor in a 16th century mansion and offers a breathtaking view of the cathedral and the ancient city -completely renovated and refurbished with antique furniture modern kitchenette and bathroom (shower) and a 1,60m x 2m wide bed adds all the contemporary comfort one needs in a home away from home. There is sleeping space for two more guests on a convertible couch in the living room (1,40m x 2m sleeping space). The apartment includes wifi, TV, DVD player, CD/Bluetooth player, micro-wave, oven, cooking robot, a nespresso and a french press coffee machine, all cutlery, pots and dishes, including an oyster opening set, and a washing machine. Both apartments, Le Studiolo d'HENRI and le refuge d'HENRIETTE are linked by a private entry hall and can be combined.

We are a French-German couple, a banker and an anthropologist, with deep family roots in this old French town of Vannes. After many years in Paris, we decided to move back and make this city our home again. We fell in love with these apartments with a majestic view within the old walls of the historic city. We bought them and painstakingly worked in renovating this place to revive its historical value while introducing modern creature comforts. We want to give all our guests an experience of not just visiting another pretty city in France but also travel through time in history. We have named our apartments Henri and Henriette, after HenriIV, king of France and his daughter Henriette, queen of England, who had found refuge on this street where the apartment stands today. Both were contemporaries of the time when this house was built in 1602. We hope that you will have a memorable stay.

You will stay right next to the cathedral in the heart of the old medieval city. Coffee shops restaurants and fancy stores are all in the vicinity. The city museum La Cohue is next to the cathedral, the historic museum with precious collections of the neolithic is around the corner. The colorful market takes place twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday. Just walk past the main entrance of the church and down to the place des lices and you're there. The port is at a 10 minutes stroll through the old city. If you want to take a boat to visit the islands of the Golfe de Morbihan you'll have to walk for 30 minutes, take a car or the no 3 bus to the gare maritime. Go for a swim in an outdoor sea water pool from 1886 or at a tiny beach and take a glass of whine or a coffee with a beautiful setting of the golf in front of you? Head to Conleau for 5 km. Bus no 3 will take you there. On a wider range you can visit the fields of standing stones of Carnac, the breathtaking Neolithic tomb of Garvinis, the ancient abbey church of Abelard in Saint Gildas de Rhuys, the fierce hunting castle of the Brittany ducs - Suscino and its beach- for informa check the Office de Tourisme du Golfe de Morbihan
