## The neighborhood Multicultural, lively, historic and home to local breweries, independent cafes and restaurants, South Hackney and Bethnal Green is also home to the charming V & A Museum of Childhood and can call Brick Lane and the marvellous Columbia Road Flower Market local. It’s a cool area with great transport links and plenty to do, just to the east of Shoreditch. New developments are being built, excellent independent coffee shops, bakeries and boutiques can be found here, and it’s a go-to restaurant spot due to all the excellent eateries under the railway arches – but it’s still got that authentic East End character that’s becoming harder and harder to find. For green space Victoria Park is a short walk along the local Regent’s canal, where you can enjoy the pond, do a spot of summer sunbathing, or attend one of the many festivals and events that take place here during the summer and winter. Haggerston Park is around the corner and offers the Hackney City farm, marshland, an excellent dog park, sporting grounds and forest adventure trails. London Fields is also nearby, one of Hackney's most popular parks complete with a historic outdoor swimming lido. This park is classified as common land due to its history as a site for grazing animals for Smithfield’s market. The park's large grassy spaces are surrounded by London Plane trees and the park holds a Green Flag award - given annually to the country’s best green spaces. Broadway Market is just up the road and is a must visit. It provides a unique kaleidoscope of tastes and cultures. You'll find independent shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes and on a Saturday, a pedestrianised market full of stalls offering amazing fresh produce, authentic street food, and even an all Vegan food market in the grounds of a local school.
