Within 0.4 miles there is a shop and within 0.3 miles there is a pub. Argle House is a spacious retreat on the Isle of Bute.

Rothesay, a beach village, gained popularity as a tourist destination during the Victorian era when many Glaswegians would travel "doon the watter" (down the River Clyde) and across on the ferry to Bute, despite the fact that its castle dated from the 13th Century.
