Buzzard's Nest is a unique and small Retreat Centre nestled in the Heart of Wales UK. On the edge of a tiny village and rooted in the Cambrian mountains, the house is Victorian and has a rare Railway Goods Shed opposite which is part of the property. Our house is remarkable and simple, with our art covering most of the walls, it has a homely and cosy feel with a downstairs bathroom for guests use. The open plan kitchen has Redwood worktops and oak cupboards. Guests staying in the house are welcome to use the kitchen and dining room table for preparing and eating breakfast they have brought with them. No meat please! The house stands above our orchard and gardens, from where you get access to the land. Take a walk and you'll find the stream, woods, camping area, poly tunnel, outdoor kitchen, compost loos and outdoor shower. Guests staying in the Summerhouse (a small cabin overlooking the garden) will have use of the above but if you’d rather use the indoor facilities you're welcome. As well as the Victorian Railway Building we have a Yoga studio, used for regular yoga classes and other events. If the Studio is free, guests can be use it.

Myself and husband (Clive) have been living in this beautiful place since 2015. We moved here from Sussex wanting to bring the dream we had always had into reality. The reality has far exceeded our expectations! We are friendly, approachable and welcoming people and love having folk around. We will do all we can to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable and ask that in return you look after the space and treat us with respect. We are both artists and Clive sells his artwork all over the world, (if you are interested in the art please ask, both prints and originals are available to buy). I am also a Yoga Teacher, teaching here and in other places. If you would like to join in with a class get in touch and I can let you know availability and cost. We and other people run regular alternative events from here. We are vegetarian and grow a lot of our own food here on the land. As much as we can, we try to live in a sustainable way, growing, recycling and up-cycling as much as possible.

Our place is at the far end of a small rural village in the Heart of Wales. We are surrounded a lot of the year by sheep. Our neighbours are all polite and friendly. To get to our place you have to drive in front of their houses along an unmade and private road. We would ask that you keep to a slow and respectful speed as there are sometimes children playing in the road. We live a few minutes drive from the famous 'Royal Welsh Showground' where many agricultural and country events happen, so this is a perfect place to stay if you are visiting events there. The Elan Valley is not far from us and we have an amazing ancient Bog (Cors Y Llyn) close by which is really worth a visit. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and biodiversity as well as being a nature reserve. There are plenty of walking routes around. There is a train station in the village, although it is not brilliantly connected to the rest of the country there are certain places it works well for. There are irregular buses to the village also. Builth Wells, which is just down the road has lots of lovely independent shops and cafe’s and the river Wye runs right through it and has lots of amazing wildlife.
