It is possible to obtain permission for fly fishing during the season. There's a working farm close by which is mostly arable with a small flock of sheep. The closest pub and restaurants which are within walking distance on a summer evening but you will prefer to drive during the winter. Salisbury or Wimborne Minster is an easy 20 minute car journey with places to eat, museums and shops. The Jurassic coast or Mudeford Quay can be reached in under an hour.
