Bolthole Retreats was founded in 2017 by Martin McWilliam and is based in Cheltenham. We are the leading independent agency for Cotswold holiday rental properties. Amber Cottage is a cosy, semi-detached, holiday home built in traditional, honey-coloured Cotswold stone with fantastic shared facilities including an outdoor swimming pool. It was originally part of the stables to a once neighbouring 18th-century coaching inn, with evidence of this time seen in the cottage’s ancient, exposed beams. Amber Cottage is designed as a reverse-living home with two bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor and an open-plan kitchen living and dining area, with a log burning stove, on the first floor. There is a private garden, with an outside dining area and shared use of an outdoor swimming pool, separate children's play area with swings, slide and trampoline. The location is perfect for walkers, cyclists and visitors exploring the wider Cotswolds. • Book with us to get exclusive discounts to top attractions and experiences. • The shared pool is available from mid May to mid September (weather dependent) and can be used between 10am and 2pm. Access must be arranged with the owner on arrival. • The cottage is close to the A417. You can hear road noise at certain times. • Amber Cottage has its own garden. A children’s play area with swing set and trampoline is shared with Jasmine Cottage. Please do not leave children unattended in this area.

The cottage is approached along a winding lane surrounded by woodland, which follows the edge of Crickley Hill. Turn off the lane into a green oasis created at the end of the 19th Century by the then owner Sir William Thistleton-Dyer, who was a director of Kew Gardens. The sloping land to the side of the cottage has been well looked after for well over a hundred years and was planted with many rare and unusual plants, which the current owners of Crickley Court – Jasmine Cottage’s parent location – continue to maintain with great care. Amber Cottage is situated on the side of Crickley Hill Country Park, part of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, that is jointly managed by the National Trust and Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust. There are good links to all parts of the Cotswolds via the nearby A417, M5, A46 and A40. The cottage is also in walking distance of The Cotswold Way and The Gloucestershire Way and easy cycling distance of FlyUp 417 Mountain Bike Park. It is ideally placed to visit the many attractions, villages and towns of the Cotswolds, particularly Cheltenham, Cirencester, Stroud, and Painswick.
