This old semi-detached farm cottage is set in secluded gardens and private woodland on the banks of Gare Loch. Home to Sarah, Pablo, and their dogs Tizzy, Lucky and Theo, the cottage provides a stunning, authentic and sustainable stay for anyone exploring the rich history and wild wonders of Scotland's South Highlands. ​The cottage is a perfect getaway for those who want to immerse themselves in nature, positioned on a wild peninsula between two sea lochs. These are home to seals, porpoises, and an abundance of birdlife, while the surrounding hills are awash with deep green forest and purple heather, and alive with leaping deer. We have refurbished part of the cottage to create a spacious separate guest annexe with a double bedroom, kitchenette and diner, private bathroom and separate attic sitting room. The cottage is accessed from the private parking by an entrance hall shared with the owners. A door from this hallway leads into the private rental cottage. While being in the oldest part of the cottage, the apartment faces due south and is always light and airy. The space maintains the rustic historical character of the cottage and its surroundings while offering modern conveniences to our guests. This is an old house, full of character and also many lumps and bumps, in keeping with its history. We also believe strongly in repairing and upcycling wherever possible, and you will find evidence of this around the cottage - from old doors reused as counter tops to repurposed cupboards. This will be a beautiful and cosy space for two adult guests throughout the seasons, and we would love for you to come and visit! Sarah is a keen fibre artist, dedicated to using traditional techniques and locally-sourced materials. At the Cottage you may spot her spinning rustic wool at her wheel, or warping up her loom to weave rugs, runners, scarves and shawls. There are many wonderful activities nearby. Pablo and I have worked for many years in international development and renewable energies. We are passionate about the environment and the natural world. We have three dogs: two elderly labradors and a spaniel rescued from a Spanish kill centre. We try to live as much as possible in harmony with our environment and encourage local wildlife to live alongside us. We live in the other end of the cottage so are available for questions
