We moved from Bath (and before that, Bristol) to North Nibley, a small village on the edge of the Cotswolds, in 2017 with two small children and a dream to live in the countryside and took on a major renovation project. Several years later we now have three children, a beautiful farmhouse and garden and haven't looked back. The area has everything we need and more and we truly love it here, even deciding to stay put over summer to make the most of the British weather in our wonderful garden! We completed the renovation of The Cow Byre (original name and once the home for a small herd of milking cows) in December 2023 and feel very proud of what we have achieved and now enjoy sharing the property's location and high-quality finish with our guests. We worked hard to retain the property's character whilst ensuring luxury and comfort afforded by sustainable levels of insulation, solar panels and an air-source heat pump to provide guilt-free hours in the hot tub. The Cow Byre sits next door to us yet is completely separate with its own private entrance and garden; we respect the privacy of our guests and ask the same in return. The Cow Byre sits on a quiet, secluded no-through road with the village of North Nibley a brisk 10-minute walk or a 2-minute drive where you will find a local pub for dining and a cafe to relax and unwind with your 4-legged friend. Once in the village you will link up with the Cotswold Way with options for a circular walk taking in the Tyndale Monument and Waterley Bottom or hike over to town. If biking is more your scene, cycle up to the woods for some extreme downhill routes or sweeping single tracks or hit the roads to explore the region’s quiet lanes. Once back at The Cow Byre you can hose off your bike and store it safely in the lockable bike store. North Nibley is located within easy reach of vibrant city life in Bristol, Gloucester, Cheltenham and Bath where you will find something for everyone. Or choose to stay closer to home and visit the historic market towns of Dursley and Wotton-Under-Edge which host a range of cafes and restaurants and Wotton boasts an independent cinema, outdoor swimming pool and a range of arts and crafts boutiques. You will find all the amenities for your local needs (supermarkets, hardware store, Post Office, hospital) and activities for entertaining the children (Cattle Country, local play areas, indoor swimming pool). The renowned Westonbirt Arboretum is close by along with several National Trust properties, Slimbridge Wetlands Centre for the bird spotters and an excellent Spa just down the road.
