The cottage is set in a large plot with enclosed garden mainly laid to lawn, and there’s a great enclosed decking area. There’s a neighbouring RSPB reserve that welcomes many different species throughout the year. Some birds will visit the Post Office Cottage garden whilst you’re visiting, but the majority deserve a visit from you on the reserve. There are more wildlife spotting sites nearby that should be visited as well. Dunnet Head has puffin, gannet and many other colonies at different times of the year, and from cliff paths near to the cottage, you have an excellent chance of spotting whales and dolphins.
