Set on the water’s edge at Brundall, River Retreat is set in a peaceful location at the edge of the marina just off the main River Yare and is perfect for fishing. River Retreat was fully refurbished in December 2022. Featuring an open plan, well equipped fitted kitchen, diner & lounge with 2 french doors leading out onto the sun veranda with water views and steps down to it's own private garden with seating furniture right at the waters edge, ideal for relaxing in, soaking up the sun and watching the boats pass by. There is private quay headed mooring ideal for your own or hired boat to moor directly outside the lodge and this location is good for fishing (check season & license). Don't forget your paddleboards and kayaks too! Electricity, bed linen and Wi-Fi included. Towels provided for number of guests staying. Also provided are tea towels, J cloth, sponge, washing up liquid, antibacterial spray, handwash, dishwasher tablets and a starter kitchen & toilet roll. Includes Wi-Fi access. River Retreat is located in the village of Brundall, the centre for boat building and boat hire, and which has its own railway station, shop/post office, mini-market, hairdresser, Chinese takeaway, fish and chips shop, fine restaurant and local pubs all serving good food; one is just across the river, and one is within a short stroll. An ideal touring base, with Great Yarmouth easily accessible by car or train. The surrounding seaside towns and villages of Gorleston-on-Sea, Hemsby, Caister-on-Sea, Winterton, California, Newport and Hopton-on-Sea, all offering entertainment for a family holiday, as well as the pretty Broadland villages and countryside can be explored by car. RSPB reserve at Strumpshaw Fen, 3 miles. Norfolk’s finest sandy beaches are 12 miles. Also accessible by train is the fine city of Norwich only 8 miles away, with its excellent shopping, theatre, restaurants, inns, cafés, castle and museums. For fun-filled family days out there is Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens with a renowned collection of Asian mammals including birds; you will also find reptiles in the pleasantly landscaped gardens. Close by, the village of Strumpsham has a steam museum, and Reedham offers Pettitts Animal Adventure Park. BeWilderwood and Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park are not far.
