The property is situated to the rear of a residential area and backs onto fields. Newbiggin-by-the-Sea has a lovely sweeping bay with an uncrowded beach even in the height of summer. The village was once a thriving fishing village but only a few fishing cobbles set off early in the morning now. Set in the bay is The Couple, a sculpture designed by Sean Henry. At the end of the bay is the Maritime Centre housing the old lifeboat, which has a small gift area and cafe, and often has art exhibitions.
