Stonecrop Cottage is a fabulous detached stone cottage created from a former 19th century granary with stunning views across the Coquet Valley. The cottage occupies the whole ground floor of the owner's home. Nestling in the picturesque village of Alwinton it stands amongst some of the most outstandingly beautiful and unspoilt countryside in Northumberland. The area is a paradise for walkers, anglers and mountain bikers or those wanting to enjoy peace and seclusion in the Northumberland countryside. A tiny, delightful, truly rural village with a lovely old church and a village pub, Alwinton sits in the Upper Coquet Valley, between the grassy Cheviots and the more rugged Harbottle Hills in the midst of the National Park. A great base for walkers and cyclers, the Pennine Way is a few miles, and the Pennine Cycle route a couple of miles south. This is a good location for exploring Northumberland with Hadrian's Wall and the magnificent Heritage Coastline within reach. Fabulous local produce is available in Rothbury, from Craster kippers to hill-reared beef and lamb, Northumbrian cheeses and preserves. A fabulous base for enjoying all the area has to offer.
