Marika apartment is located in a typical neighbourhood less than 2km from the centre of Athens. It is an easy 6 min walk to the nearest metro station at Megaro Mousikis, which itself is the beautiful modern concert hall of Athens. 100m from the apartment is the park of St. Charalambos on the edge of the Kesariani forest which stretches up in to the mountain of Hymettus. In the other direction the fashionable aristocratic neighbourhood of Kolonaki is just 1km away in the foothills of Lycabettus where you can either stroll or take a cable-car to the top of the hill for breathtaking views of the whole of Athens. The Panathinaikou Stadium, where the first modern Olympics was held in 1896, is 1.5km away and opposite this are the National Gardens. A 1km walk from the apartment takes you to the beginning of Vasilissis Sofias Avenue with its grand neoclassical buildings leading eventually to the parliament building at Syntagma Square. At the foot of the square begins the pedestrianised Ermou Street with its many shops, cafes and restaurants leading down to Monastiraki at the foot of the Acropolis. Also nearby to Ermou Street is the magnificent Metropolitan Church of Athens.
